Culture Clubs new release via Pledge Music ends in days

Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

But will it actually be released? There have been no updates about the album. From what I understand about pledgemusic, when you pre-order you are also supposed to get exclusive updates from the artist, videos in studio, clips of new tracks etc, but none of those happened. Pledgemusic is actually a great tool for promotion of older artists who have been out of view for awhile or new indie artists if it's used properly to connect with fans. But they have failed utterly to take advantage of what pledgemusic is supposed to be about.

I refuse to order from pledgemusic because I don't trust them to stop fighting long enough to release anything. I will buy it if and when it's actually released on amazon or itunes.

They just added 30 days back on with no explanation. It's back up to 36 days now. George always pulls stuff like that. Don't expect this album in your lifetime!

I watched this documentary recently about their new album, and how they traveled to some remote destination to write and record it. The other 3 guys in CC seem like totally cool, down to earth good guys with a great sense of humor (an absolute must considering who their lead singer is). But George? Dude...whats his problem? I like Boy George. Hes a charming, highly eccentric son of a bitch and I respect the hell out of his flamboyance, but cut the diva crap out. He should feel grateful theres enough demand to even warrant a new Culture Club album. But instead, he made it very obvious that he sees the other guys as lesser, and his refusal to hang out and go to a bar and watch a soccer match with the guys left a bad taste in my mouth, among other things. I thought he was playing up to the cameras a bit, but it was obnoxious. We get it, you and Jon Moss are whatever. But dont make the other guys suffer over it. George also said something kinda foul when Roy Hay couldnt make a performance because he had a procedure done. George, you're a funny fella, but your behavior is absurd.

That is a 100% accurate summation of the documentary!! That cracked me out because it is so true!!

But after the documentary according to George on his twitter and Facebook accounts, they met up and patched up their differences. There is a US tour booked starting in July and the album is allegedly supposed to come out before the tour. But there have been no updates on a release date since around April when the tour was announced.

George raps at 13:30 (July 2015)

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Jon wasn't on the Today Show. Varying reasons were given. Some people said he couldn't get a visa others said he had a back injury. I hope he's okay. An article did say he is definitely going to be on the tour though.

I know he gets a lot of crap based on his relationship with George, but he's a great drummer. I miss him!

They sounded good on the Today Show. George's voice is 100% better than it has been. He said he had been working with a vocal teacher and taking vocal rests. It shows.

Love Roy's guitar solo. He is the best!

The new album is now supposed to be coming out in 2016. George has put up quite a few songs on his twitter page. They are all really good and diverse. There's reggae, rock, R&B and funk. Very cool.

I hope this album is released and given a chance at success.

I'm going to see their current tour. I wasn't old enough to see them in '83/'84, and this is probably my one chance to see the band. Colour by Numbers is still my favorite album (aside from Prince's Parade album). I've never been without it for the last 30 years. Helen Terry will be missed, of course, but it should be a fun show.

It starts on Friday in Vancouver. Get ready! I read on Facebook that they are all there in Vancouver so it seems like all systems are go.

I'm seeing them on August 10 in Virginia.

Don't cancel again, George. Be a good Boy!

First show was last night in Vancouver, anyone know if they all made it?

Edit: Actually looking at the pictures, I don't see Jon. Wonder what happened?

George apparently said at the concert that he couldn't play because he has a back injury. But he is there in Canada and may play at later shows.

But of course because of the history between them, the rumor mill is starting.

Whatever the reason, I'm heartbroken and sad for Jon. I like him a lot. He loves playing the drums and so sad he's not there.

There doesn't seem to be anything about how he's doing on their Facebook page.

I have tickets to see them in August but I really don't want to see them without all 4 original members.

I also saw the setlist on Facebook. It's pretty standard, the hit singles plus the new songs. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Really didn't excite me too much to see them.
