simple minds recent album

i bought a ticket to see simple minds in november its billed as a greatest hits with stuff from their new

album 'big music' concert, so i thought i would buy 'big music' so that i would be familiar with what

they were playing,i have to say that i was pleasantly surprised how good this album is.a lot of new

albums take a few listens to grow on you but this sounded good right from the first track, one thing

that stands out for me is the excellent drumming whch is credited to 'mel gaynor'. im not their biggest

fan by any means and i only have a couple of their albums but i am looking foreward to seeing them

live,i think they deserve some credit for making an album as good as this after they have been around

for so long.

you sound alot like myself ...

I heard the song "honest town" and I thought "give it a try" ... having not bought a simple minds album in years ...

I thought it was the best new music purchase i made in years .... much better album than Prince's recent stuff ...

I luv the first song , honest town , and the last song alot but i do find myself listening to the whole thing too ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Their last three albums are all very good, Black and White 050505, Graffiti Soul and Big Music. Mel Gaynor's their go to drummer, he's a powerhouse. I like the earlier electronic stuff the best i think, The Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call and New Gold Dream albums, some terrific bass and keyboard work on those albums. Very very good band.

We're here, might as well get into it.

Was speaking on this a few months back when someone was saying that "older" artists cant do good albums anymore, and I had to prove them wrong with many artists that still had great records even if you werent hearing them on the radio or seeing videos or getting bombarded by them like Beyonce, there is a world out there that people forget.

But this record is great top notch great tracks, and has been getting raves since it came out
