I LOVE it. Vocals are great and you can easily tell it's about Nick.

Vocals are great if you like your
vocals buried under the orchestration.

Identity

Walter Afanasieff is the best collaborator she's ever had, from a fan's perspective. This single doesn't signal a new creative beginning, but rather more of the same mildly interesting hip-hop influenced fare.

confused I can hear her vocal perfectly fine. Nice try, though. Sly, smart-allek comments won't work with me. Anyway, the song is nice. I seriously don't know what people expect of her. No one is never satisfied :-/

You must have her confused with Madonna. Do you know what you're even talking about? This is not a "teeny-bopper" song. Are some of the lyrics cheesy? Maybe, but the woman is witty and has a sense of humor and is just incorporating today's cultural slang into the song. I'm not deluded or blinded by any "stan" bias or anything. But the music video accompanied by the song is just lyrics and animation and a short clip from her "Honey" music video. Some of you people are just beyond air-headed and ridiculous. Nothing further. It's pointless discussing something with people who are set in their ways and ignorant.

Very cool. I like the rap-singing part. It reminds me of "don't forget about us", which is one of my favorites.

It actually reminds me more of " I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time", which I also love and has a breezy feel to it. I love the song, and really don't care what others have to say about it. cool

I'm not a Mariah fan, but I think it's a pretty good song. I like the hip hop flavored singing. The main problem with it is some of the screeching high notes especially the whistle one like at the end. Her voice isn't what it used to be and she can't really carry off the ultra high notes. She needs to stick to her lower and middle range.

Mariah Carey has released a new single today called “Infinity.” Reaction to the song has been wildly mixed. Mariah’s lambs seem to like the song while some others think “Infinity” is repetitive and desperate. But that’s not the real story here. It’s okay not to like a song, but the reaction on Twitter has been very brutal towards Mariah Carey in a personal and hateful way.

On Twitter user, PariahScarey49, mocked the single cover and made fun of Mariah’s controversial chart manipulation tactics.

Besides fat-shaming and slut-shaming Mariah, many of the people are shaming Mariah Carey for being “too old.” Perhaps Mariah should get together with Madonna, who had been bullied for her age on Twitter as well. Some people have even called for Madonna to die since she is apparently too old to breathe. Mariah Carey hasn’t talked much about ageism in the music industry, but Madonna has talked about the issue to Rolling Stone a couple months back.

“They’re judging me by my age. I don’t understand. I’m trying to get my head around it. Because women, generally, when they reach a certain age, have accepted that they’re not allowed to behave a certain way. But I don’t follow the rules. I never did, and I’m not going to start.”

Tori Amos was one female artist who came to Madonna’s defense in an interview with the Guardian.

“Madonna is an entertainer. There are very few people who could’ve gotten up off that floor. It wasn’t because of her that she fell, but it was because of her that the performance carried on. Some of the vilification comes from women as much as men. She’s making choices and she’s able to do things physically that a lot of people 25 years younger can’t; she got up and refused to allow that to shame her.. It makes me sad that we can’t embrace Madonna and say, Wow, this is an artist who’s expressing herself in a certain way.”

Mariah Carey hasn’t been pulled off stage yet, but she has been relentlessly ridiculed for her allegedly deteriorating voice, her lip-syncing, her awkward on-stage movements, and just about everything else. A lot of the criticism comes back to Mariah’s age, even though being 45-years-old doesn’t stop one from having a great voice.

Not everybody thinks that Mariah Carey and Madonna’s current career troubles come down to their age; some think that they aren’t getting airplay because their new music is terrible. However, both Madonna and Mariah’s latest albums have been critically acclaimed. Are Mariah Carey and Madonna being treated unfairly? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

It seems that she stopped talking herself as a serious artist.
