this is my favorite (solo) Lionel Richie song.It has a really cool, quiet storm vibe. For me,this is the highlight of the Can't Slow Down album.

Awesome bass work on this one. I always thought this song had a nice Micheal McDonald feel to it.

Its Richie no T Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

It's probably the part of the album that's aged best.

If I had to pick a favorite Lionel song this would be it. Hands down. Never listened to an entire Lionel Richie album there may be more lesser known gems on them as well.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

On his next album,Lionel tried to remake/copy this song.He came up with "Love Will Conquer All".It's a good song, but not nearly as good as the song it rips off.

It's a solid tune once you move past the maddeningly saccharine lyrics. After a short time he experienced difficulty sustaining momentum as a solo act.

A lot of it was personal issues with his marriage and his father's declining health which kept him away from music and the musical landscape changed a hell of a lot while he away even in the pop genre. It got bad for Lionel when his daughter was more popular than he was. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I found this in a used record store for $6 a couple of years ago. Never knew it existed. I love the disc with all of the Demo songs. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
