I disagree....sure you have to do your homework, but its silly to make such a sweeping statement when Wiki is a valuable place to start off with. If for no other reason to scroll down and check out all the original citations from the actual sources. As long as a person isn't lazy, you can start with Wiki and work your way into the truth. But just for you I provided more sites that verifies that Vanity was on those Cameo album covers.

I do not know the precise deep reality for Cameo and Larry Blackmon et. al.

but regardless of however it is, they are (1) most the most underrated R&B funk groups in history who deserve a solid share of use on the old school format old school stations (yah, listen V103?)

and (2) beyond doubt worthy of Soul Train etc. R&B career acheivement awards. They are as complete as any R&B funk group (and trust me, I know them all from Isleys to The System to Kleeer

to Dynasty to T Connection to The Mac Band to West Street Mob to Joe Quarterman) as effective use of all key elements of funk:, sexiness, comedy, melodic quality, danceablitiy, quality vocals mixed with the uniquely R&B innovative stretch of vocal elements (Larry's "OOWWWWWW", funny falsetto in group chorus harmonies, etc.), overall festive party mood, & at times political conscousness (Stand Up from 1977, Let's Not Talk Slot from 1983, Skin I'm In from 1988). Their entire catalogue is as worthy of availability in MP3 format as The Isley Brothers and Prince yet it isn't. The "GOLD" 2 CD compilation is a complete worthwhile summary of the history of their evolution of styles that always staid at the edge of R&B\funk style and element innovations as soon as those innovations were born, whether it was the transition from bass, horn & lead guitar analogue funk to the electronic synth dominated electrofunk\boogie funk to the new jack swing (I cannot judge their hip hop soul material because I have not listened to it but I antiicipate it is up to P Diddy par). All of their LPs from "We Know Who We Are" to at least to "Machismo" (entire history is on Discogs.com) are complete, very few wasted, below part songs, and deserve As for obvious high talent and work ethic effort and probably at least B+ for results (depends on the LP). I feel very lucky to have heard "She's Strange' and "Single Life" on the radio when they were brand new, the present generation in comparison rarely gets to hear the total package masterpiece singles such as these from the new songs on today's R&B or pop radio). Blackmon proved his bonafide genious as a composer\producer\arranger, and the same for Michael Burnett, when they co-produced the Cashflow LP "Cashflow" that was released in 1986. The music part on the LP is a state of the art bonafide jam; however, the vocals were too frequently C- level at best, which explains the nonsuccess of that LP and Cashflow as a group. Cameo is one of those groups that has a large bounty of album cut only songs, not released as singles, that are completely R&B chart hit-worthy

and worthy of review for potential or actual purchase by people that have a dedicated interest in the types of music that they performed. Stand Up (1977), Good Times (1977), Please You (1980), Aphrodisiac (1983) and Let's Not Talk Slot (1983) are a few of my favorite album cuts.

Thank you God for Cameo in my life, even aware of all of the huge nasty music industry constraints .
