Kid Rock Flabbergasted At Beyonce Worship

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/the-killer-inside-kid-rock-20150226?page=4

Rock sometimes seems like a right-wing politician catering to his base. He won't play Europe or mainstream U.S. festivals, but he will play SeaWorld. His fans love it when he shouts things like "Fuck Radiohead" onstage or attacks mainstream pop. He's "flabbergasted" by Beyoncé worship. "Beyoncé, to me, doesn't have a fucking 'Purple Rain,' but she's the biggest thing on Earth. How can you be that big without at least one 'Sweet Home Alabama' or 'Old Time Rock & Roll'? People are like, 'Beyoncé's hot. Got a nice fucking ass.' I'm like, 'Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big tits.' Doesn't really fucking do much for me."

Kid Rock should be a full time music critic because he spends more time critiquing artists than actually being a recording artist. If he means that Beyonce doesn't have a country rock song in the vein of "Purple Rain" or "Sweet Home Alabama" then he's right. But if he is asserting that Beyonce doesn't have an iconic song in her discography then he's wrong. "Drunk In Love", "Crazy In Love", "Single Ladies" are the biggest songs of her career that have associations with pop culture all aspects of entertainment. Not even the biggest Beyonce fan but the mock indignation about Beyonce is beyond comical.

the Ted Nugent of this generation...just a lot more mediocre and cynical

at least Nugent always made clear who he was and where did he stand and, unlike Kid Rock, he played real rock

Beyonce just has some amazing PR working for her, basically. Her "brand" is more iconic than her music I feel. People say "Single Ladies" is her most iconic song but I don't know. I don't know if the song would be as popular if not for the video.

And I don't know why this part was even nessescary. It's not like it's impossible to find someone attractive even if they're not your "preference." Doesn't Kid Rock have a biracial child anyway? lol He really wants to have this Country Conservative Redneck image like he wasn't trying to be down 20 years ago lol

But I don't really think he was trying to diss black people. I think he was using an analogy with appearance and trying to make a point and I have to agree.

I think his point is people worship Beyonce just because they think she is hot despite not having any classics. His point is (Women with Big tits or "perceieved attractiveness" is not that big of a deal and should not be applauded more so than the actual music)

I don't think he is dissing black people. People seem to think everyone likes Beyonce or everyone thinks she is the baddest women on the planet and it is not true in reality.

I despise Kid Rock, but he is absolutely right about Beyonce. She is the most overhyped, overexposed and overrated female artist of our time.People put her on this big pedestal, but how many true "classic songs" does she have? Her music is instantly forgettable and disposable.

She really isn't such a big name elsewhere in the world. In Europe it's far more likely that you're going to hear a Rihanna song in a mall, club or on the radio than something by Beyonce. Like, 4-5 times more likely. I'm not saying that Rihanna is "a bigger icon" or that Beyonce wouldn't have dedicated fans in Europe too, but Americans are a bit delusional if they think she's a comparable name to MJ or Madonna across the globe. When I see American media outlets describing her as "the most revered woman in the world" or something similar it feels pretty absurd.

I agree! I don't hate Beyonce, but the woman is overexposed and overrated as hell. Classic songs!? What classic songs? I tried to get into her music but I just couldn't. I watched her documentary on HBO and still I fail to see what the hype is about. People love comparing her to MJ, Tina, Janet,Whitney, etc. But all of those people's music were light years ahead of hers. I just don't get it. The most ridiculous comparison has to be the MJ one. She is nowhere nearly as talented or intriguing as he was. Her fame don't match her talent. His did. I hate the fact that no other female African American artists can get shine because what did Anderson Cooper say "Its Beyonce's world and we all live in it". Back in the 80's and 90's Whitney, Janet, Madonna, and Mariah all existed at the same time. And they were all huge and putting out plenty of music. It makes me really think that there is some truth to what other fonts have said about the industry holding other females back so that Beyonce can get her shine.

I dunno. I don't think she is as popular as her "hype" makes it seem in America and globally. She damn sure ain't no where near MJ or Madonna popularity globally. I know people who have gone to her concerts who find her to be very overrated and there are people my age that don't care for her. I know people in the UK who have also said she is not that popular there and Rihanna is. That isn't the first time I've heard that from people who live there.

I guess I should have mentioned that she's more popular in the UK than elsewhere in Europe.

Just look at her peak positions for the mainland Europe. The peak position for her latest album in France was 13, for Germany it was 11, for Italy 14 and for Sweden 27.

Those are not MJ and Madonna type of numbers. They're not even Radiohead type of numbers.

The peak positions for Madonna's MDNA in the same countries I listed: France #2, Germany #3, Italy #1, Sweden #1.

Yeah, it's not all about the peak positions, but Beyonce's been around for more than 15 years, so you can't really make the claim that her being a "newer" artist should influence it that much.

why is he talking about her though, especially her physical appearance? wasnt beyonce just recently on a huge world tour, so how is she not popular overseas? leave it to the fonts on this site the only artists from america that gets love globally are mj and madonna. isnt madonna currently crying about being banned on uk radio, im pretty sure beyonce gets more airplay over there in 2015 than her.

I've stated that she is not as popular globally as American media tries to tell the American public she is.

American R&B simply does not have the type of appeal elsewhere as Americans seem to think it has. It appears regularly on European radio stations because the American media corporations have so much influence over those, but no, people just don't care about the style that much.

I don't understand his image/persona in this article at all. Kid Rock started his career with a flat top fade and a rap album on Jive Records in 1990.

Kid Rock is such a fucking joke. I admit to having a few of his albums as a kid. But Joe hit in the head about him & Ted Nugent tbh. They both started out playing what they thought was ''black music'' Nugent claims he tried his best to be James Brown & Chuck Berry. And even talked shit about Pantera for not having enough ''soul'' when they covered Cat Scratch Fever.

Kid Rock started out doing what he thought was rap. But it was just white boy talking over some not so slick rhymes. And now both give their political and musical opinions every chance they get. While also talking about race issues every chance they get too. ''we're not racists!!!! we played black music!!!!!!!!! we just think blacks should learn ot behave''

That's both of them in a redneck nutshell.

LOL. Somehow I had never seen that.

I don't have a problem with one guy stating he is not that into one artist. What's interesting is everything people want to read into that.

You do have to give it up for skinny white girls with big tits, I won't take that away from him.

where ever you are from its not the entire world so how would you know whats going on around the entire globe? im from america, i have no idea whats going on in your country and actually dont care, but i get tired of people who are usually brits saying only mj and madonna are known in other countries while in the meantime beyonce just finished touring the world. if people paid to see her in germany of italy they are fans and wanted to see her.

How old are you? I'm just curious since you said people your age don't care for her music. I agree that her PR machine is working overtime to make her seem more relevant than what she really is. I don't understand what all of her hype is about because she's just not that spectacular. I think she's overrated and overhyped a lot. Who in their right mind would dare compare this chick to MJ? No matter how much she tries to copy his style she will NEVER EVER be on his level. Just never!

I kid you not, just about every time that I turn on the TV I hear about this chick. The worst are the "entertainment shows". They ALWAYS talk about her and the most mundane things. Next thing you know they will report on her sneezing or going to the bathroom. But, I agree with you, she is paying off the right people to keep her in the news and that's the only reason why we hear about her. It's not because she's a "real" star. She's manufactured.
