Madonna's new album 'Rebel Heart'

Maybe a thread with 20,000+ views should merit a stickity.

.

Alas Madonna added two new remixes of Living For Love on YouTube today. One is Stonebridge Private Mix (pumpin' bassline, old school sound). and Dirty Pop Club Mix Part 2 featuring lovely background from MNEK.

Glad someone was here for SoulAlive. wink I just listened to Heaven for the first time last night and I really like this song--I'd like to see it fully fleshed out--not much--with the right musical production. It might fit on the new album--but who knows? Although I really like most of the songs for Rebel Heart, I can't say that it is a cohesive whole musically or thematically like I was hoping for... Too many things going on. But then, I'm old fashioned and I like an ALBUM to have direction in the old fashioned sense... Maybe that time is ova... lol

I love the album but I think she really should have gone with the double album idea. That way,it would have been a more cohesive album.Half of these songs clearly represent her "rebel" side, while the others are more serious and introspective and would fit well on the "heart" disc.

Or...she could have released two different albums the way Prince did. I think he tried the dual music/double album thing with Lotus Flower but it didn't work. If you have two dual natures going on, maybe they should be separated. But, you are right, Madonna could have had one part "Rebel" and a second part "Heart." That would work out better than this chaos--which is worse than the MDNA era IMO with all these leaks and so much disparate music.

Madonna Makes Music Chart History As New Song Explodes At Pop Radio

Even at 56, Madonna is still breaking records. Her latest single “Living for Love” has topped Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart, making it her 44th No. 1 song on the Dance charts. Billboard describes the Queen of Pop‘s latest achievement.

“The Queen of Pop reigns again with ‘Living for Love,’ tying with George Strait, the King of Country, for the most leaders on a single Billboard chart. Madonna makes Billboard chart history, as she earns her 44th No. 1 on Dance Club Songs, where ‘Living for Love’ lifts 2-1.”

There is more good news for the former material girl. Her single “Living for Love” is finally exploding at pop radio. It is currently No. 37 and is gaining more than a million listener impressions a day. Many thought that Madonna’s new single was gaining airplay because of a radio pay deal, but it has been confirmed that radio stations are playing it out of their own will — that means Ms. Ciccone is getting a lot of requests and great call-out research.

Madonna has yet to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, but that should change now that “Living for Love” is getting a lot of exposure. The success of “Living for Love” will help Madonna’s next single “Ghosttown,” which probably won’t have to be released for a long time now that “Living for Love” is here for the long term. The kiddies at American radio obviously still care about the Queen of Pop. However, there have been rumors that the BBC’s Radio 1 has banned Madonna from their playlist because she is “too old.” The Inquisitr spoke to Radio 1, who denied the claims.

“First of all, there is no ban on Madonna. Her single ‘Living for Love’ might have been available since December, but the record company didn’t start pushing it until recently. We have played the song — I think more than once. It may not be played a lot on Radio 1 right now and may not be played at all in the future. But to say the song was ‘banned’ is an incredible lie and one that some are pushing to promote an obvious agenda against Madonna.”

Perhaps Radio 1 will see how successful Madonna has been in the United States with her new single and add it to their playlist. Madonna is scheduled to perform at the Brit Awards next week. Madonna will release Rebel Heart on March 10. Around that time, dates for her upcoming tour should be announced as well. 2015 is going to be a great year for Madonna fans.

Well, I mean, I got two Rebel Heart albums now:

1. The Standard Edition, through Wash All Over Me, subbing demos for Devil Pray and Illuminati, which I find much better. 14 tracks.

.

2. All the Deluxe and Super Deluxe tracks, subbing demos for Addicted, Graffitti Heart, and Rebel Heart, and then adding Revolution, Queen, Two Steps, Tragic Girl, Never Let You Go, and Back That Up. 16 tracks, and the only one that screams "demo" is Back that Up, but the groove carries it.

.

I'm happy, loving the "album", but what a mess. Is this Madonna's midlife crisis? She's never released so much good music at once. She's acting like Prince.

.

Favorite song right now: the demo of Graffitti Heart. I don't know why. It's just rough, sweet, and direct. "What have you got? Show me your Basquiat". Love it.

.

My biggest complaint (other than the whole thing is a clusterfuck) is that a lot of the songs don't linger, like, say "Frozen", or even an incomplete one like "Music" did. It seems hurried, or maybe not confident enough in the material to let it breathe.

.

But yeah, I can't remember the last time I was so pleased by a Madonna album.

I love this line from the song "Illuminati"...

"we're gonna live forever, love never dies...it starts tonight"

I smile when she sings that part smile

this should be a recurring theme of the tour.

Madonna Notches Historic 44th No. 1 on Dance Club Songs Chart
By Gary Trust | February 19, 2015
The Queen of Pop reigns again with 'Living for Love,' tying with George Strait, the King of Country, for the most leaders on a single Billboard chart.
Madonna makes Billboard chart history, as she earns her 44th No. 1 on Dance Club Songs, where "Living for Love" lifts 2-1. (The ranking, dated March 7, will refresh on Billboard.com on Thursday, Feb. 26.)
With the coronation, Madonna equals George Strait, who's logged 44 No. 1s on Hot Country Songs, for the most leaders ever by an act on a singular Billboard chart.
It's fitting history for the artists also known, respectively, and reverently, as the Queen of Pop and the King of Country.
With her 44th leading title on Dance Club Songs, which measures reports submitted by a national sample of club DJs, Madonna pulls further ahead of runners-up Beyonce and Rihanna. In fact, Madonna has tallied as many No. 1s as they have combined: 22 each. (The chart launched as a national survey in the Billboard issue dated Aug. 28, 1976.)
Madonna, who performed "Love" at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 8, matches Strait's esteemed honor, with the latter icon having stood at the Hot Country Songs summit with 44 smashes between 1982 and 2009. He first reigned with "Fool Hearted Memory" (Aug. 28, 1982) and most recently ruled with "River of Love" (April 18, 2009.)
"Love" introduces Madonna's 13th studio album, Rebel Heart, due March 10.
"The reason I wanted to call the record Rebel Heart was because I felt like it explored two very distinct sides of my personality," Madonna told Billboard's Keith Caulfield in December. "The rebellious, renegade side of me, and the romantic side of me."
Specifically of the house music-infused "Love," the ever-youthful Material Girl similarly said, "It's kind of like the old me and the new me all mixed in together."
Looking ahead, all Madonna needs is one more leader, perhaps also from Rebel Heart, to pass Strait and claim vaunted chart history -- 45 No. 1s on one ranking -- all to herself.
For now, at least, Madonna and Strait make for unparalleled Billboard chart royalty.
Here is an updated look at Madonna's 44 Dance Club Songs No. 1s, beginning with the double-sided single "Holiday"/"Lucky Star," which reached the top the week of Sept. 24, 1983. You'll notice that one of her No. 1s is an entire album: You Can Dance (1988), a collection of mostly remixes of previously released songs (and one new cut, "Spotlight"). Prior to Feb. 23, 1991, the chart wasn't always song-specific and full albums were, at some points, allowed to chart.
(For titles that spent multiple weeks at No. 1, total frames in the lead are noted in parentheses.)
1983, "Holiday"/"Lucky Star" (five weeks at No. 1)
1984, "Like a Virgin" (three)
1985, "Material Girl"
1985, "Angel"/"Into the Groove"
1987, "Open Your Heart"
1987, "Causing a Commotion (Remix)"
1988, You Can Dance (LP Cuts)
1989, "Like a Prayer" (two)
1989, "Express Yourself" (three)
1990, "Keep It Together"
1990, "Vogue" (two)
1991, "Justify My Love" (two)
1992, "Erotica"
1993, "Deeper and Deeper"
1993, "Fever"
1994, "Secret" (two)
1995, "Bedtime Story"
1997, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"
1998, "Frozen" (two)
1998, "Ray of Light" (four)
1999, "Nothing Really Matters" (two)
1999, "Beautiful Stranger" (two)
2000, "American Pie"
2000, "Music" (five)
2001, "Don't Tell Me"
2001, "What It Feels Like for a Girl"
2001, "Impressive Instant" (two)
2002, "Die Another Day" (two)
2003, "American Life"
2003, "Hollywood"
2003, "Me Against the Music," Britney Spears featuring Madonna (two)
2004, "Nothing Fails"
2004, "Love Profusion"
2005, "Hung Up" (four)
2006, "Sorry" (two)
2006, "Get Together"
2006, "Jump" (two)
2008, "4 Minutes," Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland (two)
2008, "Give It 2 Me"

I love that moment on the Grammy's performance when he shakes out her hair. She's so cute. Also, the StoneBridge Private Mix is totally taking me back to the late 90s. Being 21, dancing into the wee hours at the gay clubs, hearing everybody freak out when the new Madonna song came on. I hope that still happens. biggrin

Madonna should compile all the outtakes and demos into a massive box set and sell it on the tour.....she could call it the 'Rebel Heart' Super Duper Tour Deluxe Edition lol sell it for $50 a pop...it would be a big seller among the hardcore fans.

Agreed SoulAlive!! My dude and I were talking about this last night. Wouldn't it be great if an artist made a homepage/fan club where they sold demo/live/rare/alternate versions of their tunes as well as collaborations and unreleased stuff?

.

It could be like a membership site or open to the public where they could just buy a track at a time. Release them for holidays, appearances, special occasions etc.

.

Maybe she could call it Madonna's Perfect Gratitude Music Club or Madonna's Pretty Great Music Club. I know it sounds sorta lame but she has a lot of fans. If she charged a buck a song she'd rake it in.
