Who Likes Foreigner Over Journey?

The two are often compared (and for good reason) but i've found Foreigner is the way better band overall. Sure they had some straight up cheesy songs in the mix. But i don't feel ashamed when i admit to liking them. I feel ashamed of half the journey songs i like. And i absolutely hate Don't Stop Believing with a huge passion.

Lou Gramm is a pretty good singer too. I don't think he gets enough credit for that. They wrote some incredible hooks in the 70s and 80's. Some of the best arena rock music ever produced. I think overall they were way more consistent than Joruney.

Just look at this list of hit songs.

Feels like The first Time

Hot Blooded

Cold As Ice

Waiting For A Girl Like You
Urgent

I Want To Know What Love Is
Head Games
Double Vision
Dirty White Boy
Reaction To Action
Jukebox Hero
I Don't Want To Live Without You.

Both great bands each with great hits and some not so great

However in the end Journey for the win. Because their hits are the better of the two

I do love Foreigner but Journey all day for me. Perry's voice always amazes me and Seperate Ways alone is better than anything Foreigner have in their catalogue. Great thread though!

Actually they are somewhat different if you go all the way back, if this is a straight "HIT MAKING JOURNEY against FOREIGNER" Journey was alot like YES and Early STYX before Tommy Shaw came in and Dennis Deyoung began writing together. Steve Perry is not even an original member, though he is the GUY with the Hits. Foreigner day one was a HIT band Journey was ready to be cut loose from Sony. So HIT wise years, I find some of Foreigner a little annoying, like "Hot Blooded" "Cold As Ice" great songs but a little cookie cutter. Journey really to me invented the power ballad and everyone road that, though others had ballad hits first, Journey made it a business and perfected it, and Perry and Graham both great, but way different, Perry is a clean pefectionist were as Gramm is more hard edge throaty and rough. Both have WAY WAY underrated Lead Guitarists, how Mick Jones is not respected more I have no clue, but he is FOREIGNER to me, forget all the other guys, its Mick's baby.

Air Supply was too much cheese. Both of these bands ROCKED!!!!!

Thanks Guns...I see i'm missing a few of the Foreigner hits from my collection.

Steve Perry was the best singer, period.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I can't stand Journey and I sort of like some Foreigner songs. So, me.

Foreigner also have the weakest, simpiest hits of the two as well. But later badness doesn't cancel early goodness, which they had some. I never thought Jourtney was good.

If you like either Journey or Foreigner there's a new 'supergroup'

Dean Castronova - Journey Drums /Lead vocals

Jack Blades - Night Ranger Bass Vocals

Doug Aldritch - Guitar Whitesnake

The Album's really good. The band are called Revultion Saints

I like Journey better, but don't get me wrong I'm a huge Foreigner fan. Though I believe most Journey fans are also Foreigner fans.
