Straight Outta Compton - Red Band Trailer with Introduction from Dr. Dre and Ice Cube (HD)(Official)

Straight Outta Compton - Red Band Trailer with Introduction from Dr. Dre and Ice Cube (HD) (Official)
The Story of N.W.A. - In Theaters August 14th
http://www.straightouttacompton.com/

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, Straight Outta Compton is directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off, The Italian Job). The drama is produced by original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are joined by fellow producers Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright. Will Packer serves as executive producer of the film alongside Gray.

Since Vince Neil is from Compton, will they have him in the movie

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The movie is nothing without DJ Yella and MC Ren. I don't like how they are trying to make Dr. Dre and Ice Cube the center of the group when it was really Eazy who formed the group. Also, what about Yella and Ren? They get no shine in the documentary at all. I heard they told the actor who plays Eazy not to contact his son disbelief The movie looks kinda like the Biggie movie, average.

I'd rather see a good documentary.

They told the actor who plays Eazy to not contact his son and if the son contacts him to avoid it. I thought that was shady and disrespectful. Shouldn't they want his family to be apart of it?? I think the movie will be biased and told from "Dr Dres/Ice" perspective which I doubt will be accurate since they were beefing with Eazy and Jerry Heller at the time. Also, Jerry Heller is not involved at all and doesn't support the movie. It kinda will be like the Whitney movie. It might be entertaining to watch but won't be accurate.

Edit: Ice Cube son is playing him in the movie but he didnt let Eazy's son be in it. This is even more disrespectful. I actually did not know this.

yeah, you are right - we are basically going to see what they want us to see and if you look at this interview, Dre basically says that in so many words right around the 8:20 mark

^All of them had a hard early upbringing except for Dr. Dre. Maybe he did have some childhood issues but he definitly did not grow up on the streets and was not a thug like he often "portrays" himself to be. But watch him portray himself like a thug in this movie. lol

@3rdeye thanks for the video. It sounds like Dre is beating around the bush. He was beefing hard with Eazy during the time I know they forgave each other before Eazy died but still I know this movie is going to be full of lies.

Ice Cube Calls N.W.A’s Rise a David vs. Goliath Story

Over the past few years, Ice Cube has been hard at work on what may be considered one of the most anticipated biopics ever: the N.W.A. biographical film Straight Outta Compton. The renowned rap veteran has been so focused on the film that we’ve seen less and less of him since his last two movies, Ride Along and 22 Jump Street, came out in mid-2014. With the N.W.A picture slated for an August 2015 release, excitement is growing more and more each day.

The film is said to document the rise and fall of the influential Compton-based rap group, which birthed hip-hop legends Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella. Approximately seven years in the making, the film will finally see the light of day this summer under the direction of longtime Cube collaborator F. Gary Gray, the man behind Friday and Set It Off as well as early music videos for Cube, Dre, Cypress Hill and OutKast.

XXL got the opportunity to speak with Cube about the upcoming biopic while chatting about Eazy-E’s legacy ahead of the 20th anniversary of the late MC’s death last week. In this conversation, Cube spilled some more details about Straight Outta Compton as well as the story of N.W.A and what’s been holding up the next installment of the Fridayseries. —Miranda J

XXL: We just passed the 20th anniversary of Eazy-E’s death. How do you feel working on this movie without Eazy-E?

Ice Cube: Working on the movie, it’s like we’ve been engulfed in Eazy-E for the last seven years. So, it seems like he’s right here still

You guys have been working on the movie for seven years now?

Well, it’s been a dream that would come in and come out. Then, it really started getting traction four years ago. We’ve just been steadily working to get it to this point, so it’s been a long process.

How does it feel to be putting the biopic together 30 years after you guys all started this together?
It feels great. To me, it’s a story that should be told. It’s an American story of not only rags to riches, but David vs. Goliath. To me, when you talk about N.W.A, you talk about non-violent protests against things that we were trying to comprehend, so we ended up putting it in song.

There should be a movie about us.

Is there a possibility of a fourth installment of the Friday series coming out?

I mean, I’m trying to get it off but it’s really the movie company, New Line [Cinema]. They’ve got the rights to the movie and we need a certain amount of money to do that movie because we need to get everybody back into that movie. They want to give us a certain amount and we need a bigger amount. It’s kind of like a stalemate right now. Send them a letter or some shit.

I'm sorry but the lights on any N.W.A. stage did not look close to what they show in that trailer. Looks like they embellished on the already exagerrated video for "We Want Eazy" and gave it a VH1 Storytellers flare! lol

Here's what a real N.W.A. concert looked like! lol (NSFW)

I wanna be extra hype for this movie because I love NWA lol but its just hard too. Sigh... I probably will get more hype about it when the movie comes out. Although I know it will be full of fluff though razz I am pleased that the actors resemble the members of the group. I am at least happy with that.
