I Love Vince Guaraldi's Music

I simply love Vince Guaraldi's music.

His music flows so smooth. Once, in a while you get the gift
of God Jehovah bringing musicians together, who honestly
are so well balanced its like liquid carmel for the mind.
Just absolutely peaceful.

I know that I also LOVE the N.E.W.S. (north, east, west, south) Earth, Air, Fire, Water cd from Prince, too.

When musicians come together, who have honed in on their craft and mastered it...
There is NO THING better. To be the master of your happiness is truly the best thing you could ever become.

God Bless, Respectfully.

Arjuna

Hello Arjuna. I see you are a fairly recent newcomer to the site. Welcome and glad to have you aboard. cool

.

Thinking I'd never heard of Vince Guaraldi, I strolled over to Youtube to have a listen. Lo and behold, I find he is the brilliant creative mind behind one of the most widely recognised songs in America--the Charlie Brown theme song! I knew a handful of his songs actually, all from various Peanuts TV specials.

.

I listened to some non-Peanuts comopositions as well, and I see what you mean by "liquid caramel for the mind." It's very rare for me to listen to jazz (aside from Prince's work in the genre), but the songs I've heard so far from Guaraldi are quite nice. Subtle, rich, and at the same time delicate.

.

Perhaps this week I will put N.E.W.S. on as I have yet to really immerse myself in it as I've done with so many other Prince albums. I revisited N.E.W.S. several months back and was really starting to connect with it, able to discern traces of the artist in the arrangements, appreciating the album's dark and mysterious, almost brooding atmosphere, and moved by the complex blend of textures throughout. It's also an intriguing concept from a mathematical standpoint: four cardinal directions, each song 15 minutes long, exactly one hour in total length. I'm long overdue for another listen.

.

Thank you for clueing me in on Guaraldi. It's a crime I wasn't aware of his name before I read your post. I've been enjoying listening to his music while writing this reply. "A Flower Is a Lovesome Thing" is currently playing. Quite lovely.... rose
