Those first two albums aren't as bad as people think. Come Give Your Love To Me from JJ is an awesome New Wave cut, and Love and My Best Friend is heart-tugging in a way that the Jacksons do best. As for DS, Hold Back The Tears is a great cut, as are the funky tracks Don't Stand Another Chance and All My Love To You.

I have every single one of these albums. And like @seanman said those first two albums weren't bad. I actually like quite a few tracks on them especially "say you do" and "Don't stand another chance". I love the way that her music tells the story of a girl transforming into a woman and all of the stuff in between. Her ablums always had some kind of message to them verse today's artist not having any. I am a Janet Stan for life!

I like it too. It was produced by Giorgio Moroder, who's known for his work with Donna Summer.

I never understood why those albums were called bad. I guess the more people heard it was a flop, the more it was written off in general. I was hooked on them when getting them in the late 90's, especially several of the tracks on dream street were on repeat. I thought her voice was good as well, really pretty and soothing. And YES, those last 3 tracks off Dream Street are classics!!!

And? We've been asking for a Janet sticky for years, but the powers that be around her seem not to deem her worthy of one. And so what if there are several Janet threads? At any one time or another I've seen several Madonna threads on the first page alone, and the same goes for Beyonce, Gaga, etc. If it doesn't interest you, then move the fuck on. Thank you.

Right! Janet hasn't really had any threads as of late. I've seen many Madonna and Beyonce threads. Are they claiming about those too?

I agree in that there is absolutely NO filler on 1814 at all. Every song on that album could have been a single and damn near was. It was definitely her Thriller, several charting stats and all.

Wish she'd put some new music out... But if she's finally happy with her life and doesn't feel the need to be in the music rat race any longer, then more power to her.

---------------

it most definitely is...

1814 is jimmy jam & terry lewis music, when they were in their creative prime

i barely even notice janet...she is like an audio accessory on this album...but its still a masterpiece

It would be nice to get some deluxe reissues of these, especially "Control" and "Rhythm Nation 1814".

I disagree. Those songs on RN couldn't work with anyone else at the helm vocally. Janet has a sound and a style that fits perfectly with them.

Janet was not merely a bystander or an audio accessory on her great works with JJ & TL.

This is bullshit! Jimmy and Terry provided the music but Janet definitely had her own input which was vital to the entire project. I love Jimmy and Terry but sometimes I feel that folks give them too much credit for Janet's accomplishments. Yes they are a huge part of her career. But let's not forget that Janet is a visual artist. And Jimmy and Terry are not responsible for her performing abilities. There's a reason why she is one of the greatest music video artist and besides the music they had no input into her videos.

Michael's worst album (Invincible imo) is better than Janet's best. Michael was a genius. Janet was a good popstar. Lets keep some perspective here people.

Exactly! People constantly say stuff like this, but when this question is asked they don't have an answer for it.
Other than Janet can anybody please tell me where Jimmy and Terry has had that amount of success with any other artist.
She is just as important to their career has they are to hers. Hell, even Jimmy will tell you that himself. He said years ago that Janet is their franchise.

Prince was asked in one word to describe Michael and he said "Genius". When asked to describe Janet he said "Genius's sister".

Why do i always get the feeling that men are called geniusses and women are puppets?

Michael needed Quincy Jones just at much.

But Janet was only just a puppet of course with no talent.

And Madonna is a slut of course with no talent.

Prince was being an ass! Like always. He never liked the fact that Jimmy and Terry found so much success with Janet. So I was never pressed about his little comment.
