Duets/Collabo albums

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Liza Minnelli + The Pet Shop Boys = "Results" (1989)

Pet Shop Boys at dead of night, collaboration

I know - sounds odd, but it was brilliant at the time and still stands as some of her best work, in my opinion. I wish they would have done more together... as there's only so many times a person can hear "New York, New York" and "Cabaret." It really gave her a chance to do something new and fresh!

^^That album is only credited to Liza. Someone producing an album is not really a duet album. It's no different than Full Force producing Samantha Fox.

Even though it's technically a Laura Nyro album, Labelle's vocals are so prominently on display throughout I consider it a collab album:

PRINCE & 3RDEYEGIRL - PLECTRUMELECTRUM rolleyes

Dr. John - Spirit of Satch is revisions of classic Armstrong with tons of guests

I do think Rave was a fun collabo album

Smokey & Miho (from Cibo Matto) if you dig asian chicks singing brazilian

You & Me is Pink duetting with some indie fella, very moody kinda 90s altfolk

There are tons of great electronic albums, almost a separate thread... Miguel Migs latest album has Andy Allo and Me'shell on tracks amongst others. He's done a few, Fatboy Slim has done a few really interesting ones including Here Lies Love and The Brighton Point Authority.

That Boy Meets Girl album above looks incredible... any good? Carla Thomas is an underrated, prolific duet/collabo artist

I almost forgot, one of my all time faves: royal meeting of Duke Ellington & Count Basie in 1961
the two biggest Big Bands of that era collaborating, that would be like Prince and Michael Jackson doing a whole album together in the early 80ees smile

great dense arrangments which still gave everyone enough room to shine solo and while interacting music
