I hope there not fucking with us. If D really releases this within the rest of this year. I would actually give him some credit. I just hope this isn't a big annoucement. Then a release in 6 months

It's a bittersweet release. The dude has been gone for 15 years. He decided to serve another master. He could have released a ton of great music in 15 years. I'm a huge fan but I gave up on him like I gave up on Sly. I'll have to preview the album first then decide to buy it. In comparison can you imagine Prince being gone from 1980 to 1995?

He's been back performing since early 2012. Do a little youtube search. In fact, you can find live performances of all lthe songs on Side A. He's been semi-back for a while.

I know that cpt. obvious. I'm talking about album releases. More than likely I'll buy it because I heard snippets. Anything is better than the garbage they call music nowadays.

This is exciting, but I wonder if it's an itunes digital release the first week (exclusive) with the physical coming the following week.

Not to bring up Beyonce, but that's how that surprise release happened last December. Target, Best Buy and Amazon had to wait.

D’Angelo has finished his first new album in 14 years and will premiere it to the public during a listening session in New York on Sunday, December 14th. The follow-up to 2000’s Voodoo is titled Black Messiah and attributed to D’Angelo and his band the Vanguard.

Fans can RSVP to the listening session, which is being hosted by renowned African American writer Nelson George. The event takes place at the Dream Hotel in Chelsea beginning at 4pm.

In anticipation, the website for D’Angelo’s manager, Kevin Liles, has shared a brief teaser trailer for the album.
