The one Singer that should record Kool & The Gang's "Joanna"

I KNOW y'all are gonna THROW eggs, bricks or White Dildos but when I listened to Kool & The Gang's classic "Joanna" I thought it would be a great cover for Justin Timberlake...Set aside the fact that you want to Bitch-slap'em....His voice is perfect for that song, he could even do it as a Dueling Duet with Bruno Mars...What do y'all think?

We don't need Timberflake and Bruno messing up this classic.

Also, if anyone would kill it it would be El DeBarge.

I'm not even a fan of the K&TG original version. Excuse me, but Joanna was THE weakest track that band ever done. Give me the 12" version of Tonight any day of the week!

Absolutely! This is a terrible song to begin with...no remake is necessary.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

El could do it but he wasnt even an after-thought...It has to be a Male Singer that won't take us to church..

I love this song music one of Kool & The Gang's finest singles of the 80s.

Wouldn't wanna hear a remake,though.

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! Wait a minute... black sum'mabitch! You mean to tell me that JT Taylor remade this song? He needs to be confined to a rubber room in a strait-jacket while listening to kate Smith sing "God Bless America" on repeat! Travesty!

How 'bout Maxwell? He'd have 2 bring the tempo way down tho and infuse it with his Old Skool vibe and atmospherics. smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I Love Brotha Maxwell, but you know OL'boy been having vocal problems...he said when he did his Duet with Alicia keys he had to do a silent Prayer before each verse...I'm going to be honest, as much as I Love his voice he did not make my list...In my mind I'm thinking a "Pop" version...I don't know if I want the song played on R&B stations...LOL.....And I just found out Kool & The Gang will be honored this Sunday night on that revamped Awards show they call "Soul Train Awards"....I wonder if somebody is gonna tackle "Joanna"?

Exactly. Probably the worst song of their entire career unless they've made something recently that I don't know about. lol

My favorite part of "Joanna" is the bridge when they go "She's the one, the one for me, she's the kind of Girl makes you fell nice, try my best to do what's right"....If someone does remake it I hope they add MAJOR Bass...I wanna here Boom, Boom, Boom....I know some folks hate too much Bass, but I Love it in some songs....Listen to Toni Braxton's "Another Sad Love Song" that Bass Intro is right on time...
