Jimmy Ruffin dies

Jimmy Ruffin, who was a vital part of the Motown hit machine of the 60s and early 70s with songs like "What Becomes of a Brokenhearted" and "I've Passed This Way Before" has died at age 78 after a long illness. He was also part of a musical family, as he was the brother of legendary Temptations lead singer David Ruffin.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
