Jack White - Appreciation

I've just come back from seeing Jack White in Leeds and I'm still feeling amped so I thought I'd make this thread!

He's consistantly delivered with each album and his live shows are fantastic.

Who else has seen him? What did you think?

He is one of my favourite artists. Saw him live with the White Stripes in 2007 and was a bit disappointed. Would have loved to see him live last week in my hometown, but decided to not go because of personal reasons sad .

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Never really followed the White Stripes...heard a song here from the second solo album went and purchased it along with the special vinyl release...then went and bought the 1st solo album.

What cd or song should I start with?

I've never heard any of his material.

I might start with his last solo effort. Then get the new one. Then get some White Stripes stuff. Then maybe some Raconteurs followed by some Dead Weather.

i was at the leeds gig too, thought it was great,i was up at the back and i think jack gave us a bollocking for staying sat down and not dancing etc, there was loads of lads jumping around in the standing area so they made the atmosphere great, i think the people up at the back tended to be a bit older and more reserved,i thought astro and icky thump were my favourites on the night.it was a great gig and i think he is probably the best live act around just now,one thing i wasnt keen on was people going to the bar during the actual show and coming back with pints of beer,i dont want to sound like a killjoy but they could have got pissed in the interval.

He's a talented guitar player but hardly worth the laudatory press he receives. The media

acts like he's a fucken genius while it excoriates Lenny Kravitz for doing the same thing, i.e.,

being a retro act.

Always loved dude, still do. His latest album is kinda whack, to me, apart from a song or 3. The title track. Oh, I think i smell a rat guitar. All his stuff with The White Stripes and some of the Dead Weather stuff = thumbs up!. Solo stuff = meh. Guy is a genius though nod. Let's have a ball and a biscuit, sugar nod. I like it when he rocks out. Sometimes he gets the folky/country stuff right too. Sometimes smile.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

There are a lot of "retro acts" that are getting praise these days. The difference is they are writing decent songs. Lenny phoned it in years ago. Listen to any of his songs from any album in the past decade and tell me what kind of affonities he deserves.

Yes, I remember him having a word with the sitting area lol I was down in the standing. Great show, wasn't it? Highlights for me were Lazaretto, Icky Thump, Slowly Turning into You and Temporary Ground.
