In 1985 this kinda thing was new and of importance..

in 2014 Im sure if adele lost a lot of weight, that would make just as much news.

Just my opinion... cool

People getting butthurt about somebody refusing to participate in THEIR idea says more about them than the individual who declines.

We are free to decline and should not be made to feel obligated to agree to anything we choose without fear of reprisals

Im glad prince didnt get involved with that back slapping self congratulatory garbage.

Right. Exactly my thoughts. I´m not really into Adele and her music but why should she feel obliged to take part or even answer her phone? She doesn´t have to.

And who knows , maybe she´s not feeling well or whatever, it´s nobody´s business but hers.

Well Im not surprised by this at all, this was why ALOT did not take part in Live Aid, artists like John Mellencamp, Tears for Fears and others questioned Geldof on this whole thing. GELDOF even back then was name calling anyone who didnt "join in" which was/is total bullshit to do. People who think BONO is an asshole, well you need to read up on Bob and his ways, or Saint Bob as many call him. BONO never went on TV and name called someone not assisting him in his charity work.

Granted I loved LIVE AID and that song, but im sick of him doing remakes of this damn fucking song, with the QUOTE hit makers of the day, to be hones I looked at that lineup and it fucking sucks, with the exception of Roger Taylor of queen, who is only gonna drum on it, this lineup sucks big time. They honestly are talking about doing a LIVE AID 30 in July 2015 to mark the 30th anniversary of that historic event, now as much as LOVED that event for what it assembled, though the american lineup was pretty bland, you cant create WHAT they day was, they tried this with Live 8 and it sucked beyond belief, a total fucking nightmare with MTV showing performances with fucking SWAY doing his play by play, if bob does do this please leave ALL the video stations (so called ones ) OUT OF IT!

As for Adele I dont care, do it dont do it, whatever no story here.

Her PR's on it today, saying that she said she'd support it with a donation. Possibly, it's Geldof doing his thing of naming people and creating a situation where they know they'll look bad if they back out - something which he's got form on. Then he moans about it publicly when she hasn't played ball. Perhaps it's easy to look at that rosy-eyed and say it's just someone so driven in pursuing his noble ideals that the ends justify the means, but I actually suspect he's a bit of a bully.

I don't know that it'll do much harm for Adele. 30 years ago, it was new and it was taken as an unquestionable good. Now I think people are much more sceptical about Geldof, Bono and their ilk, and about these big charity spectacles. There's certainly been a lot more open criticism about the project in the press (e.g. about the way it once again perpetuates the 'begging bowl' image of Africa; about how they've failed to include African artists or recognise what African artists have done to help mobilise people; the way 'band aids' by their very nature fail to confront the political factors behind the lack of health infrastructure in the West African countries affected, etc), so I don't see people turning against her over this.

Why not just write a new song instead of trying to redo a classic? Especially after the abomination that was the We Are The World remake. If I was Adele, I wouldn't be caught anywhere near that cornfest.

When I thought about which verse she might take, I was at a loss, as I can't think of one woman in the original Band Aid that had a lead part. It was guys only from what I can remember, which is kind of interesting. I bet they would have had her do the Boy George part.

There's already been remakes of Do They Know It's Christmas. There hadn't been an official one of We Are The World before the Haiti version.

Why just this morning I was thinking, "I'd go see this show if it came to LA." (Warning, link opens to rude word used toward Geldof AND Bono.)

Adele, just getting too big for her own boots - must be drinking Hollywood Hype, she knew what the deal was ..she should have joined in it's a UK thing, she likes to play up to the common london girl image, her PR guy needs to be sacked!

Her name was put in the mix because of her status and how it would highlight the case, for her not to be aware is rubbish - it's about saving a life!

Leave the ego and wake up confused

Good for her. I wouldn't do it either. I've always thought Prince not going along with WATW was a good move. Also glad he never teamed up with Michael Jackson(at least as far a we know)
