Cherry Pop also released 2 CD deluxe editions of Taylor Dayne's Can't Fight Fate and Soul Dancing. Nice to see this label paying homage to these talented Arista diva's and their contribution to pop and dance music.

That's cool. I noticed the Arista connection. I wonder if Lisa Stansfield got a deluxe reissue?

You must not look at these reissue threads. razz Lisa's albums were mentioned in a previous one, maybe the last one.

I have the recently released Lisa Stansfield box set. Each CD comes chalk full of bonus tracks along with a DVD with music videos and live concerts. It is the creme de la creme of box sets! I ordered mine from amazonuk because it was $55 cheaper than amazonusa. Still quite expensive but well worth the money.

Donna had enough music videos from these albums for them to have included a DVD with the box set, along with the A Hot Summer's Night concert from 1983.

I'm pretty sure Hot Summer Night falls under contract to her label at the time Universal since that was SWHFTM era.

The release made its first appearance on Billboard magazine's Top LP's & Tapes Chart, and remained there for seven weeks, whilst also reaching Number 38 during a five-week run on the UK Album Chart.

The first song from the album to reach any of the charts in Billboard was a duet with Jane Olivor entitled "The Last Time I Felt Like This" that was written for the 1978 film Same Time, Next Year.

The Best Days Of My Life was nominated for the Academy Award but lost out to "Last Dance" from "Thank God It's Friday", but still managed to enter the magazine's list of the 50 most popular Easy Listening Records in the US, and peaked at Number 15 over the course of the twelve weeks.

Another track from the album, "Begin the Beguine", entered that same chart five months later, and got as high as Number 37 during its five weeks there. The only song from the album to reach the UK Singles Chart was "Gone, Gone, Gone", which made its debut there the following month, reaching Number 15 during a 10-week run.

This release come highly recommend to any Johnny Mathis fan and also any fan of quality soul music. This is a must have…..

Older is the third studio album from George Michael, released on May 14, 1996 in the United States through the then-new DreamWorks Records. Older was the very first album released by DreamWorks Records. It was Michael's first album since 1990's Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 – the five-and-a-half-year gap was due to the controversial legal battle that Michael experienced with his record company. Michael dedicated three years straight in the recording of Older, and the album found him exploring new musical territories in a more serious fashion compared to his previous work.

At the time of release, the album was a huge commercial hit, particularly in Europe. In the UK, the album was particularly notable for producing six Top Three hit singles in a two-year span, creating a record still unsurpassed. To date, Older has sold around 15 million copies worldwide.

"Michael's skills as a pop craftsman still shine through -- several songs are well-constructed ballads that rank with his best material..." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic.com

Features:
• Numbered, Limited Edition (Only 1000 Copies)
• K2 HD 100kHz / 24-bit Mastering
• Made in Japan
• Includes Clear Protective Outer Sleeve

Being a part time dj whose fave musical period is the decade between 1953 and 1963 one can dig forever in a bottomless pit of great danceable uptempo tunes. Even after years and years of bringing new and exciting tunes to light there still are new finds every day who fill the dancefloors around the world for fans young and old.

.

We're talking Rhythm`n´Blues and the phase in the early 60s when it morphed into Soul (now called New Breed), as well as the genre that nowadays is labeled Popcorn – a midtempo style with a high groove-factor that was created in Belgium (of all places).

.

Of course, when filling the box for a dj night one selects the fast and highly danceable stuff and maybe a few slower tunes to send people home in the morning.

.

The Slow Grind Fever series was created after stumbling over a clubnight in Australia via the internet: "Melbourne's only slow dance party, where they play the slowest, spookiest, sweetest records they can find, and folks dance real slow in a haze of smoke and dim red light.“

.

Well, what a concept! The Soundcloud-mixes the three dj's (Richie1250, Mohair Slim & Pierre Baroni) posted pretty quickly convinced the Stag-O-Lee chief that this is very exciting and after a few mails with the guys who run the Melbourne night the Slow Grind Fever series was born.

.
Side One:
1. The Notes - Cha Jezebel 2:54
2. The El Torros - Yellow Hand 2:18
3. Eddie Cooley & The Dimples - Driftwood 2:49
4. Isley Brothers with Ray Ellis & Orchestra - Teach Me How To Shimmy 2:29
5. Donna Dee - Nobody's Gonna Hurt You 2:27
6. Charlie Williams - Playin Guitar And Missin You 2:23
7. Henry Thome - Wolf Bait 2:38
.
Side Two:
1. Bob Lee - Wanted For Questioning 2:22
2. Little Willie John - Young Girl 2:53
3. Elizabeth Waldo - Balsa Boat 3:05
4. Bobby Rebel - Valley Of Tears 2:28
5. Jessie Hill - My Love 2:42
6. The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You 3:21
7. Jimmy Scott - Home 2:56

Ne’er a truer word was spoken! And, lest someone be offended by the title of this album, let’s just remember that this is REDD FOXX, the guy who practically invented off-color humor! And this album, released by Atlantic in 1976 and the comic legend’s first album release in 12 years, was actually pretty tame compared to the “party records” that Redd recorded for the Dootone label that were so, um, salty that record stores had to hide them under the counter. That’s not to say, though, that this record isn’t downright raunchy at times; as befitting the man who paved the way for Richard Pryor, Chris Rock and even Andrew Dice Clay, there are plenty of unbleeped three-, four- and even twelve-letter words! Those familiar with Redd’s work only via Sanford and Son definitely need to check this out. You Gotta Wash Your Ass got nominated for a Grammy, but we doubt Redd gave a $#@!

Soul music pioneer Sam Cooke owned and operated SAR Records, his own independent label, from 1959 until his death in December 1964. ABKCO Records has gone to great lengths to uncover many treasures in the SAR catalog and will release two important compilation albums, including a number of previously unreleased tracks on January 27: Joy In My Soul: The Complete SAR Recordings by The Soul Stirrers, the gospel group that helped launch the careers of both Cooke and Johnnie Taylor, and Lookin’ For A Love: The Complete SAR Recordings by The Valentinos, who are notable for being Bobby Womack’s first secular group.

.

Founded in 1926 by Roy Crain, The Soul Stirrers were one of the preeminent gospel vocal acts in the U.S. over the next several decades. After many line up changes, a then-unknown Sam Cooke joined the group in 1951, a stint that lasted until his entry into the secular pop world as a solo artist in 1957. Cooke was replaced by Johnnie Taylor (later of “Who’s Making Love” fame), and by 1959 the Soul Stirrers found themselves without a label. Cooke and Crain, along with manager/songwriting partner J.W. Alexander reacted by founding SAR Records, whose first order of business was releasing Taylor-fronted Soul Stirrers recordings as well as selections on which Jimmie Outler took the lead.

.

ABKCO’s Joy In My Soul: The Complete SAR Recordings double CD package contains the group’s entire recorded output from September 1959 to July 1964, including the LPs Jesus Be A Fence Around Me and Encore!! With The Soul Stirrers as well as non-LP singles and unreleased tracks.

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Freedom Highway Complete - Recorded Live at Chicago's New Nazareth Church, a newly remixed, remastered and expanded edition of the live concert masterpiece recorded by the Staple Singers in April 1965 in support and celebration of that year's historic civil rights marches from Montgomery to Selma, Alabama.
