Opinions on Taylor Dayne

What are you're opinions on her music/voice/prescense etc.? She had a bunch of hits in the 80s and 90s, though I never hear them on the radio now. She's in the R&B section at many CD stores. She sounds soulful to me, and despite the hits I'd maybe say she's underrated, what do you think?

My favourite song of hers is Every Beat Of My Heart, she's so gorgeous in the video too.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention how sexy she was (and still is), especially seeing that video.

I love her unique voice. I love "Love Will Lead You Back" and "I'll Always Love You". I swear that the latter is a must that it will be played at my wedding someday. nod I also love "Don't Rush Me".

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I loved seeing her bit acting on "Rescue Me" a few years ago, it was neat to see her in a different, dramatic light. I've never met her, but over the years a few of my friends have. I hear she is super sweet and fun, very down to earth.

.

And that voice!! Woo...

I used to play her stuff all the time back in the late 80's and very early 90's. Then, what heppened? No more new music. She seemed to disappear for at least a decade, only emerging to do reality shows. Missing her music, I went out and re-bought the first two albums on CD only a few years ago. I was really disappointed. The sound was dated and really sounded tinny. (The same experience happened when I rebought music from The Jets, Pseudo Echo, and Expose too!) I really wish she'd release some new music - with updated instruments because she really is very talented.

Taylor Dayne I'll always consider an underrated artist. She was signed to Arista records with Clive Davis being the president. We all know who was the 'cash cow' of that record label. Taylor Dayne deserved to be as big as Mariah Carey. She can crossover to r&b as well as pop.

I don't believe her record label really promoted her as much. I knew she was from NY but that's all. Never knew her ethnicity or if she was married She didn't do many interviews.

She had the talent but didn't have the 'machine' to keep her revelant after 1994

She's a good singer, but I hate her first two singles---"Tell It To My Heart" and "Prove Your Love".Those two songs are basically the same song! lol Noisy,over-synthesized,late-80s dance/pop crap.

I think she's better at ballads."I'll Always Love You" and "Love Will Lead You Back" seem much more suited to her style. She really shines on those songs.

Funny that someone brought her up! I left a comment on YouTube about the song "Do You Want It Right Now?" (written and performed by Siedah Garett, later performed by Taylor Dayne) and was asked what I thought of Taylor's version. I think Taylor Dayne has the kind of talent that, perhaps, Arista just didn't know what to do with at the time. She'd fit in well now because of what she's able to do vocally and style wise. It seems she was a bit ahead of her time. The good thing is that there's still room for her.

Right after Teena Marie, I rank Taylor Dayne as THE blackest and soulful white female artist of all times. cool

I've been standing by those words for decades now. And I also hold Taylor respondible for leaving the window of opportunity open for Kathy Troccoli, Lisa Standsfield, & Anastacia.

Wrong. no no no! Despite the fact they were almost in the same uptempo, Tell It To My Heart & Prove Your Love were NOT the same track. But both are dance-pop & freestyle classics, right up there with the best from Expose (Taylor's labelmates at the time) & The Cover Girls.

Miss Taylor Dayne is amazing! She is definitely one of the most soulful white chicks that has ever sung. That big voice of hers coming from such a small body is a wonder!

"I'll Always Love You" always makes me melt. I also love her reading of "Can't Get Enough of Your Love". Those are my two favorites from her.
