New on DVD: Björk’s Biophilia Concert Film

October 17th

Earlier this year, Björk adapted her 2011 Biophilia album and its accompanying app into a full-length concert film called Björk: Biophilia Live. Now, enjoying a worldwide theatrical release, including a premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, the documentary will be released on DVD/Blu-Ray on November 24th via One Little Indian. The film will also come with a live album.

Directed by Nick Fenton and Peter Strickland, Biophilia Live “chronicles the multidimensional concert centered on (Björk’s) eighth studio album,” according to a press release.

In addition to animation sourced from the Biophilia apps, the film also makes use of “science and nature archive and found footage,” emphasizing the LP’s overarching themes of “musical structures and natural phenomena — atomic, cellular and cosmic.”

The DVD and Blu-Ray editions will be available in the following formats:

-Björk Biophilia Triple Pack (2x CD &DVD)
-Björk Biophilia Live Blu-Ray (2 xCD and Bluray)
-Björk Biophilia Live (Triple vinyl + DVD and MP3 coupon)
-Björk Biophilia Live Digital double pack (audio and video download)

Below, watch a trailer for the film.

I saw this at the cinema last week as part of a double feature with When Björk Met Attenborough. It looked amazing.

Im interested to see this. Musically Biophilia didn't do very much for me. I love the concept behind what she was looking to do.. maybe its that I don't get some of the lyrical connection with the idea behind each song. Nevertheless she is still one of the most creative people in music today and perhaps this will allow me to see her full vision for this project.

Change it one more time..

yeah, the music did not really grab me much but it was interesting to see and for me, the dude Manu Delago on percussion was sick, esp. when he played Han drums.......check it out.......

Were you able to go to any of the Biophilia concerts a few years ago? Seeing it live then is when I appreciated the album more.

Interesting. I really liked the album and thought the concert didn't do it justice.

I had tix to see the film at a local screening last week, but had to miss it for a work-based event. I hope it is as much misc. visuals and off-stage content as concert footage.

The film is just the concert, nothing else. Maybe there is more on the video release. The screening in my city showed the Attenborough documentary before the concert film which featured off-stage content from the tour.
