20th Anniversary Vinyl Edition of Aaliyah’s Debut

October 17th

Legacy Recordings has announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah's debut offering, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, with a special, limited edition release.

The record will be packaged as a 12″ double LP 180 gram white vinyl pressing, and will also include her UK bonus track, “The Thing I Like.”

The set will be released for the Record Store Day "Black Friday" event on November 28.
The disc, which was written and produced by R. Kelly, spawned the top 10 hits "Back & Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Love)."

They worked so well together. His music fit her like a glove. I miss her!!!

It seems her legacy is starting to be remembered now...

The photos with Kelly are so disturbing when you put them in context. "Grooming" sounds about right. Her whole career was marred by such sadness til that horrible end. An angel.

I was actually really bummed when I heard the two fell out, because the sound made of their coupling was amazing, and I had been a fan since "Back & Forth". Of course, that was before I knew who Missy and Timbaland were (when One In A Million dropped in 1996).

I'm a year and a half younger than Aaliyah was so I did not detect anything skeezy about the content of the album, and I still enjoy it as such.

I was heartbroken! I felt the two meshed better together, than the Timbaland crew. Although I was a fan of theirs also later on. Especially Missy. But to me Aaliyah and The R. were kindred spirits. Even after, what was revealed later, about their scandalous relationship. I still felt, if it wasn't for him. We would have NEVER heard of Aaliyah. He brought out her true talent and swagg.

Like JJ&TL brought out Janet's. Or Quincy brought out MJ's...The whole thing, just was swept under the rug, after their love affair was revealed....

'Love affair' is a weird way of putting it. She was a child. R Kelly is very likely a fucking pedo. If there was any justice, that fucker would be dead and she would be alive. Poor girl.

I was a fan of Aaliyah. In fact, I have a cousin that is the same age as her, that looked up to her. Aaliyah hid her REAL age from the public as long as she could. Until the marriage, when she put her age at 18. When she was really 15. I'm not excusing R. Kelly for what he did. He is already suffering the consequences of his actions. Plus has NEVER brought her name up again out of respect for her.

It felt more like a R. Kelly production featuring Aaliyah.

It had its moments tho.
