Just days after releasing a new single, "Right Now," Mary J. Blige has announced the release date of her next album, Mary J. Blige: The London Sessions.

The singer's upcoming set, which was recorded overseas, is expected to arrive in stores on December 2 via Capitol Records. “It’s all about the London Music scene and I’m so excited to have been part of it, to record my album,” says Blige in a statement. “The songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful. This is a beautiful change for me and I’m proud of what we have done here.”

Aside from executive producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, the set will feature contributions from U.K.'s best talent including Disclosure, Emile Sandé, Naughty Boy and Sam Smith, among others. To get fans excited, Mary's collaborators revealed what she has planned in an official album trailer, posted on Pitchfork.

”The London Sessions is, number one, the bravest thing, and number two, just so honest,” says Smith, who co-wrote lead single, “Therapy,” with Blige. Disclosure adds, “It’s the reason that people like Mary are so successful -- they’re just not afraid to change what they do completely.”

Love hurts. Mary J. Blige bares her heart and soul on “Whole Damn Year,” the new single from her upcoming album The London Sessions.

On the minimalistic piano-driven track, a fragile Mary shares her pain as she reflects on a bad breakup that left her emotionally scarred.

“It took a whole damn year to repair my body / It’s been a bad five years / Gone take a long, long year for me to trust somebody,” sings MJB.

The R&B veteran spent the summer in the studio with U.K. hitmakers including Sam Smith, Disclosure, Eg White, Emile Sandé, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy, and Sam Romans.

As long as there's a Rick James sample somewhere, I'm there.

Just kidding, I actually suggested that she work with Disclosure again when people complained about her soundtrack and Shalamar cover, and here I turn around and it's the lead single on a new project. Pretty sick.

For me , her finest producer will always be Chucky Thompson, although I welcome the change is stylistic direction.

Sam Smith co-penned "Therapy" with her:

Why would I spend the rest of my days unhappy?

Why would I spend the rest of this year alone?

When I can go therapy

When I can go therapy

When I can go therapy

Two times a day

I know we're talking her new stuff here but she kills this medley of classic Mary too.....

I prefer this Mary that uses control her voice and happens to remain in key versus the other one who tended to go flat based on how loud she sang. I used to put it this way, give me Mary channeling Anita verus Aretha anyday. wink
