What do you think of Lenny Kravitz's new songs?

I'm just curious what others are thinking of the new songs he's released. Has anyone played them? Does anyone still get pumped for a Lenny record around here (besides me)? lol

I really like 'Strut' the most out of what I've heard so far

If you will, so will I

Chamber is catchy too. It reminds me of something that could have been on 5. I could have done without the spoken word part though.

Both "Strut" and "Sex" sound great. Miss Prince needs to be taking notes. lol

The production is great, but the hooks are a bit weak, I think. He really should start producing other artists more, because it's the selection of sounds and things like that he excels at.

It's funny though how "The Chamber" seems to be influenced by "I Was Made For Lovin' You" by KISS and "Strut" by "God Of Thunder" (by Kiss too). I don't know if that was intentional, but it sounds like he's made something of a homage record to some of his own favourites.

Hah, I just heard "Sex". The guitar riff instantly reminded me of the guitar licks from Bowie's "Scary Monsters" era. Not that there's anything wrong about it, it sounds good.

I like this one over "Strut". I know what you mean about the spoken word part, but actually it reminded me of Prince at that moment. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I've always loved Lenny and while I own some of his albums, I used to get excited when I would hear of his new releases, but none of them have been a favorite staple of mine since his "5" album. I'll give this new album a listen first before buying...but after looking at the cover drool My goodness, the man is still sexy as hell! love

I've heard The Chamber and Sex. I really liked them.

The last Lenny album I got was 5. I thought it was ok but gave up on after that but will probably get the new album.

Hmm.. I really want to like these songs, but they're just not stuff I'd play. They're not bad though. I haven't really identified with his albums since Circus.

Change it one more time..

This reminds me of "Black Veleteen", for some reason....

Lenny Kravitz is a album producer non pareil. He can capture the sound of any generation and

make it sound exciting, fresh, and vibrant. The new stuff I've heard reminds me of Mike Chapman

from Blondie and Niles Rodgers from Chic.

But his songwriting...holy fuck, is it awful! He couldn't write an interesting tune to save his life!

Homeboy peaked with AYGGMW? I do think that the media treats him reprehensibly, chiding him

for being retro and wearing his influences on his sleeve while at the same time, lauding Beck for

doing the same thing.

I wish he'd produce more for others too. I think I have enjoyed most of the stuff he has done for others a lot

Holy Fuck! This is good! This is Mick and the Family Rolling Stones! I take my username from a Lenny Kravitz song, but I gave up listening to him years ago. But this is good!
So let's resume:
-Great new Lenny Kravitz song
-Kate Bush performing live again.
-Bob Dylan announcing a 6-CD-set of the Basement Tapes.
-Prince announcing 2 new albums.
Seems like a great year 4 music so far!

Strut is the best so far; very sexy, very funky and very rocky. If you are going to shout the title of the song it better be Strut! than the mouthfull whic is pretzelbodylogic... or fixyourlifeup...

Also on my first listen to the complete album, so far I like it...very much actually!

Love the production, it sounds really raw, dirty, funky...just the way I like it!
The Chamber is probably my favorite jam!

Lenny never disappoints...so far this is my favorite album of the second half of 2014, let's see what our old friend Mr. Nelson brings to the table later this month biggrin
