A pro shot DVD seems very likely, and a much better document than shaky phone footage. And there are lots of photos and audio recordings already out there.

We old school tapers never get complaints from our neighbors. We know how to be stealthy enough that you could shine a flashilight right in our faces and have no idea the show is being recorded. Courteous, thoughtful and effective.

I suspect the DVD will contain the whole show considering the limited number of performances that she's doing.

It would be pretty unfair to all those who couldn't get a ticket to see a truncated version.

A fan on facebook has received and shared an e-mail from Eventim. In the message they inform the ticket holder that their seat has been upgraded and moved to e better position due to filming of the show for a future DVD release...will be filmed over three nights

I have been very lucky to have seen the gig/show twice. The first time (which was the third night) we were sat on the second row (our tickets were for row F, there are no rows A-D!!! E is the front row)...two metres away from Kate! It was a truly intense, yet beautiful experience...one to be in the same building as Kate, but also to see her perform and THAT show in full view and within reach.

The second time was on the 6th September and we were in the upper circle...Kate's voice was stronger, the performance slicker and the staging perfected...it seems wherever you are seated in the venue then your view of the stage is great (friends were standing at the very back and loved the show).

I won't give anything away, but the first few songs will not prepare you for what follows...I laughed, cried, was amazed, shocked, overwhelmed and jumped to my feet a few times...Kate looked so happy and comfortable on stage...and we even got a direct cheeky smile during the encore on that first night up close...I can die beyond happy.

A tip for future attendees: Go to the merchadise stalls upstairs- less busy and more chance of being served without much hassle, 100% buy the programme- the whole thing is a personal account of the making of Before The Dawn as told by Kate herself (they are also sold by members of staff walking around in the interval and after the gig), and the Kate-in-lifejacket posters seemed to sell out by the end of the gigs on both nights- so we were lucky to grab one before the show started. We were NOT checked for PHOTO ID on either night, but they did ask for the card that paid for the tickets and made sure that they matched the name on the ticket...I had my passport with me both times, but wanted to test the process and was happy that they weren't bothered by photo ID and don't worry about not being able to take photos of the gig- both evenings have stayed with me more because I had to take in every moment to memorise...you are allowed to take photos of the stage before and after performances- I have some nice stage shots once Kate and the band come on stage/left the stage.

For those without tickets, keep checking the Evetim site- they are trickling through tickets for future shows on a random, yet daily basis...a friend purchased a ticket yesterday at 8:15pm (London time) for a show next week...plus, people have gone to the actual Hammersmith box office. Good luck, she is completely worth every penny and nerves on that ticket buying stressful morning. The DVD should be a treat.

This tour book is stunning...it has the feel of a graphic novel, beautifully printed on good quality paper. There are many behind the scenes photographs, sketches and conversations. Kate gives a very detailed account of the making of Before The Dawn, so refreshing to hear her being so candid and open about her creativity....she swears like a mad auntie! There are some hidden treats in the curved pages and all for £15...a must purchase if you mange to attend. Actually the t shirts are beautiful too...the 'feather' shirts have the performance dates on the reverse, but shown as phases of the moon...perfectly Kate

Kate Bush is reportedly planning a concert film based on her London comeback shows, Before the Dawn. Fans were apparently asked to change seats at the Eventim Apollo theatre in order to accommodate cameras capturing two of the gigs.

Several ticketholders for Bush's performances on 16 and 17 September received emails informing them that they had been switched to different seats, according to fan site Kate Bush News. "Unfortunately due to a late decision to film the show for a DVD release, we have had to relocate you from your original seat," promoters explained.

Tuesday 16 September will mark the 29th anniversary of Bush's seminal studio LP Hounds of Love – one side of which is spectacularly staged in her live show – and 20 years since the release of her only concert CD, Live at Hammersmith Odeon. Before returning to the stage on 26 August, Bush had not performed live in 12 years, or headlined since those 1979 Hammersmith shows; her current 22-night London residency sold out in under 15 minutes.

The country's Bushmania has also been felt on the UK charts. On 31 August, she became the first woman to have eight albums on the same Official Albums Chart's top 40. The 56-year-old currently has eight albums in the top 50 and, on Tuesday, was nominated for two Q awards: best live act and best act in the world today.

Bush's most recent album, 50 Words For Snow, came out in 2011.

I find it rather head scratching that no one thought to film this till so late in the game?????

Writing about a Kate Bush concert must be like trying to describe seeing a parade of unicorns… so unique and unexpected that you don’t quite know what to make of it all.


Even as a relatively late-coming convert to the cult of Kate, it was a wait of at least five years, six months from booking the tickets to show day, three weeks of diligently avoiding any spoilers, and two hours inside the Apollo before I at last got to lay eyes on the blessed Catherine. Three hours, twenty five songs, seven backing musicians fifteen odd dancers, a journey to the to the middle of the ocean and into the soul of a blackbird later, I walked out into crisp late summers night in Hammersmith knowing that I’ll never see anything like that from a music concert again. It’s still hard to comprehend the experience, so here are a few collected observations from my inexpert point of view…



Was surprised that the first few songs were presented in pretty much a conventional way for a live music show, but then the theatrics kicked in at the end of ‘King Of the Mountain’ and…. wow – a multi-sensory experience like I’ve never had before. The overall production bought the ‘Ninth Wave’ and ‘Sea of Honey’ suites alive like I’m sure Kate always intended. The blend between the action on the screens and on stage was the best I’ve ever seen and the pacing from the opening songs through to the two theatrical suites to the encore was very well done. I like the way they added extra music and dialogue to both suites, which actually helped them make much more narrative sense than they did on the albums, and the interlude in the shipwrecked living room was hilarious.


The sound was the best I’ve ever heard in that venue. The mix blended the voices and the different instruments well without any one section being overpowered by another or by the reverb of the room. I felt that there were some very strong performances by Omar on drums throughout (the programme notes are right – the drums DO drive the show), and by the bass man on the quitter bits of ‘Sky of Honey’. I also felt that the wandering minstrel staging and arrangement of ‘The Morning Fog’ and ‘Sunset’ were highlights.



I reckon young Bertie might have a good career ahead of him on the stage. A very convincing performance by him as The Painter (just as well that Rolf Harris isn’t available to reprise his role…)



As for Kate…she still seems genuinely chuffed that at the ecstatic response of the audience, even after all these shows. Her voice was clear, full and strong, which lent a new maturity and gravitas even to her more recent songs. Sure, she doesn’t move around like she did at age 20 (who does?!), but she commanded our attention masterfully throughout (although perhaps there was a bit too much empty space on stage for the first few songs). Interesting that her stage outfit has a definite Bollywood influence…


The setlist was identical to that posted here for the first night. Obviously most of the show is so choreographed that most of the set must stay fixed. But, I suppose they could change up the opening and the encore some nights. Much respect to the crowd for honouring Kate’s request not to take pictures and for turning their damn phones off! You could just sense that everyone was as entranced by the show as I was. My view from riiiiiiiiight at the back of the circle was surprisingly decent (it was that or one of the super expensive tickets up front. As much as I love Kate’s work, I don’t love it that much, so as far as I was concerned the promoters could stick their £400 hospitality packages-with-a-luxury-picnic-hamper-including-half-a-bottle-of-wine-and-a-spatchcokced-chicken up their arse).



What I would say though, is that with the elevated perspective on the stage, the sets and the staging look a lot smaller – and dare I say cheaper - then I’d imagine they do from the stalls up front. Looks like you’ll have to pay that much extra for the true spectacle that you can see from some of the pics in this thread.



Also, speaking from a strictly personal point of view, I’d have liked to have heard a couple more songs from the earlier albums. The absolute crowning glory would for me would have been ‘The Man With The Child In His Eyes’, which is the song that made me fall in love with that woman’s work. Yes, I know, I’m ‘that guy’ who is grousing because they didn’t play his favourite songs. Bearing in mind that Kate’s voice is now significantly deeper than it was the seventies and early eighties, those earlier songs might have required some serious re-arranging. Sure, it would have been cool to hear, for example, interesting new versions of for example, songs from The Dreaming album, or something like the steel pans version of Wuthering Heights mentioned here earlier. But I suppose that Kate, the band and the crew have their hands full with getting staging just perfect, which may not leave much time for rehearsing loads of different songs.



And… in case it’s useful for anyone going to a future show….



Photo IDs WERE being checked, so be prepared.



If you are looking for a last minute ticket, you can try your luck in the 'standby' queue at the front of the venue - which I guess sells any seats that have become free due to no shows or late returns. As per usual, there were a few shady guys touting tickets outside as well (don't ask me how you'd get round the ID requirement with one of those...)



Food and drink inside the Apollo is limited to a fairly small selection of overpriced snacks (similar to what you’d find in a cinema), drinks and booze. Much better to fill up at one of the many fine catering establishments in Hammersmith.



Some of merchandise, like the programme and the posters, looks to be really well made, high quality stuff, and the shirts are beautiful too. No wonder the stalls were doing a roaring trade - I saw people spending hundreds of pounds. The show could have made a profit from merch sales alone!



I hope for the sake of her legions of admirers around the world that this inspires her to do many more great works. Come on Kate, don’t make us wait another 35 years to show us again what’s up your delightful baggy sleeves!
