Anyone A Talk Talk Fan?

When i have a time... i nerd out on music blogs... especially rateyourmusic.com (gulity) talk Talk get a lot of love and people stan hard for them. They even have 2 albums in the top 150. I'm ashamed to say... i've only listened to It's My Life, Life Is What You Make It & Such A Shame (Great songs though)

Tears for Fears, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Sonic Youth, OMD, Visage, The Normal etc. All are highly praised on there and other blogs... but Talk Talk is the most highly praised.

So what album should i start with?

Talk Talk = fantastic.

The Colour of Spring is where you should start, IMO. I actually worked on a documentary about that album a few years ago.

Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are two of my favorite albums by anyone. Talk Talk is one of those bands who's sound changed considerably over time. The 1st album is completely different from 'Laughing Stock', for example. By the last album the music became really loose and ethereal. Brilliant stuff, IMHO. Great band to get into.

This is what you want...This is what you get.

talk talk are one of the best bands to ever be. one of the bands that truly defied genres and invented a wholly unique, fluid style. mark hollis is one of the great vocalists. i can't emphasize how good talk talk is.

.

the best two records are their final two, spirit of eden and laughing stock. both are works of almost unparalleled beauty.

I'd noticed their rather strong reputation among those who rate music--and if you guys think they're worth it, I'll give them a listen. All I know is It's My Life, so I guess I need to get started.

My brother sure is. He don't ever shut up about talk talk. His enthusiasm turns me off of them. Prince aside...our taste largely doesn't coincide.

nod

It's kind of under the radar, I've been digging Talk Talk for years and I only found out about Mark's solo record a couple years back. Since then he has become a recluse.
