Common's new album Nobody's Smiling

I just picked it up yesterday. I dig it. I like the tracks

The Neighborhood, Diamonds, Real, and the album's

closing tribute Rewind That(unless you have the Deluxe Edition) to J.Dilla aka Jay Dee.

Here's the whole album

Yeah I knew he had a new album being released this week. I heard the snippets on Amazon and wasn't that impressed. I'll have to check out the youtube vid you posted to see if it will change my mind about it.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Im really digging this album. Honestly wasnt expecting too much, because I've been underwhelmed by his last 2 releases. But the production, flow, and overall vibe of "Nobodys Smiling" is pretty fucking cool. Beatwise, it hitting like a safer "Electric Circus"( which I loved, by the way) in terms of unothodox musical textures. Pleasantly surprised by this one.

This is what you want...This is what you get.

Yes this album is safer. Common's approach was different as he was inspired by

the unrest that's going on in his hometown and he's focused more on the mic

skills. I still like his last release The Dreamer, The Believer better. He nailed it

imo with that one. The first six or seven tracks were killer and how can you not

be inspired by the opening of The Dreamer concluded with a speech by the poet

Maya Angelou and merging right into Ghetto Dreams with Nas. Ghetto Dreams was

one of Common's best tracks in years.

I just love Common to death. I follow him on social media and have been meaning to listen to the album online but haven't gotten around to it. So, thanks to those who posted this album on this thread smile I saw him on Jimmy Kimmel the other day and the performance was good. He's in excellent shape and still looks like he's in his early 30s.

I like his 90's and 00's stuff, but I hate the new single.

Oh ok, this song smile On Jimmy Kimmel, he did Black Magic. Well, full disclosure but I think I could hear a song by Common about paint drying and would still like it smile But, I think Big Sean's "OHHHHH" during the song is annoying and his last verse is way too long. I don't really keep up with Big Sean that much but he seems just kinda average to me.
