Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, is adamantly against the planned Lifetime biopic about her superstar daughter. She released a statement to Entertainment Tonight, claiming that no one connected with the movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby Brown. "We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please, please let her rest," said Houston.

So basically she aint feeling Angela Bassett right now!!

I think Cissy is just worried that the movie will show alot of negative things about Whitney We've all heard the stories and we know alot of that stuff already.You can't hide that from the world,it's already out there.

I think it's hilarious how she wants people to let Whitney rest NOW when she went out and did interviews AND wrote a book.

It was reported back in the day that Whitney told Forrest Whitaker that she would NOT do "Waiting to Exhale" if Angela wasnt a part of the movie. They became friends while filming. Ms. Cissy has every right to say yay or nay but Angela was Whitney's friend. We don't know if they remain close after the making of the movie but Angela respected Whitney and her Gift. Lifetime is so wrong for not consulting with The Houstons when they had No problem begging Bobby-Kris to do that Reality show that garnered their Network good ratings....So this is very "telling" on their part....All they had to do was go through the same channels since they previously worked with the Family on a successful project...When you think about it Lifetime had the Houston family in the palm of their hand before Angela & the Producers came about but for some strange reason they chose not to communicate with The Houstons...

the actor who plays Bobby Brown in the Angela Bassett-directed TV movie told The Hollywood Reporter that while he understands where the late singer's family is coming from, he thinks the project honors her memory.

"I really do feel like it does do her justice, and at the same time, I do understand their reservations," Arlen Escarpeta told THR Monday night at the premiere of his new movie Into the Storm. "That's close to home. That's family. You have to respect family when it comes to matters of the heart. Respect to those guys absolutely. I understand that you do want to keep a bit of distance. If and when they do see the film, they'll see it came from a place of love."

He also thinks the Houston film turned out well, telling viewers, "Prepare yourself."

"Angela Bassett is such a phenomenal director … and to tell that story from the inside out was a pleasure," he said. We shot the film with love, we approached it with love and I really feel like we have something special there. Yaya [DaCosta, who's playing Houston] did a phenomenal job … I have no complaints. I'm truly head over heels just blessed and happy."

I always thought Whitney Houston and Mother Houston were embarrassed... really ashamed that Whitney got caught up in drugs. All people have are snipes of Whitney... performing or the Sawyer interview, Bobby's Reality Show, the trip to Isreal, being fired from the Oscars, or her phone-line rants with that DJ. (You know, the cryin-gig chick... her name escapes me.) That's all people are every going to know because nobodies life including Whitney's can be defined and viewed in a 90 min movie.

Mother Houston should reconcile herself that the other side of fame is, infamy. Any amount of protest about the latter -it doesn't show real Nippy- is a waste of energy and time. Mother Houston has been to and apart of the Rodeo, she knows how this shit plays out.

Angela Bassett, shame on her; she could have found another pic for her directorial debut. You don't do this to friends on any level, I really don't give a fuck how good you think your intentions are.

I was disgusted when Cissy went on Oprah TWICE exploiting Whitney. She is the last person to be saying anything. She got a hell of a nerve.
