Another person I was shocked that went on was Queen Latifah. Wendy made "comments" about her on her radio & talk show. But when the Queen made an appearance. She talked so much that she didn't give Wendy hardly a chance to ask her anything! biggrin Latifah is very smart! She keeps her "private" life to herself. Its nobodies business! Even nosey Wendy....

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Queen Latifah strikes me as very intelligent. She went on Wendy to promote HER work and not get involved with Wendy's nonsense. "Who you callin a bitch....U.N.I.T.Y." lol lol

That is one person I doubt will EVER go on her show! But then it shocked me! When Whoopi Goldberg went on there, after YEARS & YEARS of Wendy saying how UGLY she was and how she looked like a monkey on her radio show!

prince inviting her to dinner was a shocked to me also. Because she has said some HORRIBLE things about him for YEARS & NEVER liked him. Now she has shut her mouth up! Some peeps you have to treat with kindness when their so evil to you. I've learned that dealing with the constant HATE thrown and said about me HERE. Its part of being famous and envied. You just expect it & move on.. So HATERS hate on. I love U!! biggrin

But you're not famous and no one here envies you.

Whoopi said her daughter was Furious with her for agreeing to go on Wendy a couple of years ago. I never knew what Wendy said about Whoop back in the day but I figured it had to be something terrible if her daughter questioned her for accepting Wendy's olive branch. I watched that episode and Wendy was boo-hooing becuz Whoopi gave her a 2nd chance and now they are friends. Whoopi is a Classy & Cool Chick and she's another Celeb that doesnt hold grudges. She's an amazing woman...and on that note.... I don't think Whoopi EVER had anything against Oprah...I tend to believe it was Oprah that had issues with Whoopi for whatever reason...

I agree Whoopi is an amazing woman! I like her because she doesn't care what peeps think about her. Its the reason I like prince so much & Paul Mooney. Whoopi coincidentally is good friends with both. They do not care what ANYBODY says about them. I think its the reason she is the last one standing on "The View".

That whole Whoopi & Oprah feud was always so strange to me!

I 'm a person that doesn't believe what I first hear. I believe its way more to that whole thing then what their saying. They just decided to bury the hatchet for a must see tv event. I mean they use to be very close friends. Oprah became HUGE after the "The Color Purple" its a lot of black women that just don't like her.

Yeah that's really odd. I guess she can't win for losing. But, there may have been a few years where it seemed that she alienated black viewers but I don't think it was that serious. I think the past few years have shown her to become interested in a number of projects involving mostly black casts that I'm sure she had been dreaming about for a long time.

Now let's keep it real...I Love The Mighty O just like the rest of the world, but do you honestly believe her vision for OWN was to feature a bunch of Black shows? I don't think so, according to reports I read she had no other choice but to go "Black" to save the Network...We all can agree that Oprah has given so much of herself & fortune to the world that she doesnt have to prove anything to anybody. Her vision for OWN didnt involve showcasing Black comedies & Black reality shows...Oprah knows that BET already exists and she didnt want OWN to become a second BET....

Zendaya Coleman Explains Exit from Aaliyah Biopic

-

-

Zendaya Coleman opened up about her recent exit from the upcoming Aaliyah biopic.

The 17-year-old Disney star posted several videos on Instagram Friday explaining why she backed out of Lifetime’s “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.”

“Let me just explain something,” she said in the first of three videos. “The reason why I chose not to do the Aaliyah movie had nothing to do with the haters or people telling me that I couldn’t do it, I wasn’t talented enough, or I wasn’t black enough. It had absolutely nothing to do with that.”

-

The “Shake It Up” star was cast to play the late R&B singer in June but dropped out of the part weeks later amid widespread criticism over her casting. Some complained Coleman, who i...ir-skinned for the role. Others questioned whether the singer-dancer-actress had the maturity to play the 22-year-old Aaliyah, who was once linked to R. Kelly and died in a plane crash at the height of her popularity in 2001.

-

But Coleman, who was the runner-up on Season 16 of “Dancing with the Stars,” said she left because of concerns over the production.

-

“The main reasons were the production value wasn’t there, there were complications with the music rights, and I just felt like it wasn’t being handled delicately considering the situation, Coleman said in the second clip. “I tried my best to reach out to the family on my own and I wrote a letter, but, I was unable to do so. Therefore, I felt not really morally okay with moving forward with the project.”

-

Instead, Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp will replace Coleman in the role. Talk host Wendy Williams, who is exec producing the TV movie, made the announcement on Twitter and her show Friday.

-

Coleman sent her best wishes to Shipp.

-

“Congratulations to the new woman playing Aaliyah,” Coleman she said in her final video. “I only hope that she does not have to deal with half the hate that I had to deal with. Remember that we are all human beings trying to do what we love to do. Let’s practice motivation and love, not discrimination and hate.”

Although she's powerful, she still has to deal with other powerbrokers that probably have a lot of influence on her decision-making. I hear what you're saying but I think it's not fair to assume that she would have never made The Butler or any other movies or TV shows in that vein just to get the black audience back, which I don't think completely left. Oprah's taken a lot of heat for not appearing to be interested in the black community but look at her friend Tyler Perry whose work almost exclusively was designed for a black audience. Now, he's making more movies that do not have all black casts. I think sometimes when there is something that's commercially successful with the black audience, there are people behind the scenes who then want to make it more commercial, whatever that means, and that's when the casts, directors, etc. start changing....

Remember, BET was already in the gutter when OWN came around, so who knows, maybe she was hoping to include content to get some of the crowd at BET to go to her network. This appears to be what happened with the LA Preachers reality show.

Oprah has and always had a HUGE white following! White women love & worship her & hang on to every word she says. Black women feel she caters too much to that audience, they don't identify with her. They feel like she is an uncle tom.

I feel she has a gift of a universal appeal . Only certain peeps are blessed with that gift. Mj is another one that suffered from that gift. Also Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan & close President Barack Obama. They have all transcended into an almost Godly existence. You can't touch them. Its nothing they can do wrong. They will always be forgiven FOREVER!!!

Yeah I think that's an interesting way of summing up what is happening with Oprah. It also shines a light on some glaring contradictions that people have as well. I mean, is Oprah supposed be all about "ghetto stuff" to seem credible? She seems to be incredibly generous and has (quitely) helped a lot of black actors reach another level. I think Oprah is the reason Jaime Foxx got the Oscar for Ray. From what I remember, she raved about that movie and Jamie because a certifiable A-lister after that.

Michael Jordan, quite the athlete/entertainer doesn't seem to come near the black community with a ten foot pole when political stuff goes down. I'm surprised he even said one quote (literally) about the Donald Sterling scandal lol lol

After all of the hype and hoopla, I definitely won't be watching this biopic. I feel like if you watched Vh1's special on her, you know everything there is to know about her. Then, I recently read that Zane(Sex Chronicles) will be writing the script for either this or another one and that just add to the fluckery. Why ask someone who is known for her sex laden books to write about someone whose name and the word "sex" has never been in the same sentence?
