Long Careers, Few Releases

(all of these are going by USA releases)

Sade: 6 albums, + 3 compilations & maybe one album worth of B-sides, and 2 albums as Sweetback without Sade Adu

Van Halen: 13 albums & 2 compilations

Basia: 4 albums + 2 with Matt Bianco, 2 live, 1 remix album

John Fogerty: 9 albums + 6 with CCR (CCR has many compilations)

George Michael: 6 albums & 1 EP + 3 with Wham!, about 2 albums worth of B-sides/soundtrack songs, a few compilations

Are you trying to say that Prince should maybe have released a few albums ... instead of so many ?

I would argue that all of these artists for the most part - the ones that I know alittle about ... have pretty much self destructed because of issues they had ....

George Michael - I was a big fan . Still think he has an amazing voice . but when you say 6 albums I am like ... ok ... 3 with wham ... one other that i had but .... where has he been ???

Van Halen . Well documented issues with drugs . I loved Van Hagar but .... poof . Never to really be heard from again ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

I said nothing about Prince and I rarely go to that section because I'm not really interested. It's too negative for me.

George just recently released an album Symphonica, which is the 6th. Van Halen still exists as a group but with Eddie's son Wolfgang instead of Michael Anthony.

Donald Fagen solo: 4 albums in 30 years (1982 - 2012)

Steely Dan: 9 studio albums in 31 years (1972-2003)

Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

I did know that George released that new album ... i clicked on a youtube thingy one time and heard some of it ...

It was nice to hear that he still have a great voice . But to me that just screams "i am bored with my life /music i will just rehash someone else's classic songs" ...

he can certainly do that ... i respect that ... but sheesh put out some new music ...

entertain US . that is what they are there for .

Same could be said with Van Halen ... which was only last good when van hagar was out ...

boring . and yeah put your son in the band .... pfff ...

Another Debbie Downer. lol I liked Van Halen's 2012 album A Different Kind Of Truth. I always liked Van Halen better with David Lee Roth than with Sammy Hagar. But I've only heard one song with Gary Cherone though. I don't care about original songs or people self-writing their material, so George can realease whatever he wants. He's been doing remakes his whole career. There's covers on all of the Wham! albums. Michael Anthony is playing with Chickenfoot , so you can listen to them if you like Van Hagar.

I would add Brandy, Monica and Janet to this list.

Technically, they don't have that many albums individually.

Brandy - 6 albums

Monica - 7 albums

Janet - 10 albums (not a lot for 30+ years to me)

Not a lot of people realize that Jermaine has 14 solo albums, which is more than Janet or Michael. Mike has 11 (including Farewell My Summer Love), plus the 2 released after he passed, which makes it 13.

Starting with his 3rd album Let's Be Young Tonight from 1976 up to 1991, Jermaine released an album just about every year (including 2 LPs in 1980), plus produced others like Switch & Syreeta. In 1989, he had a solo album and also participated on the 2300 Jackson Street album. Then he stopped other than to release an occasional single in other countires. He recently put out an album of standards, which is his 1st since 1991. Mike's are spread out over a long period of time.
