the band's brand new song, "Just Get Ready." It has that classic SOS sound brought forward to 2014, and is produced by Wirlie Morris for WirlWide Entertainment.

Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Good question. It could be. I first heard it on Soundcloud yesterday.

Sounds a LOT like "Just Be Good To Me" and "Just The Way You Like It" mixed 2gether! LOVE it! Kinda hard 2 understand some of the lyrics tho. Mary sounds as sexy as she always does! LOVE it! Also sounds a LOT like Flyte Tyme, but it's NOT! Can't wait 4 the album and that "Jam & Lewis Project!" I always said that Jimmy & Terry should start producing some of Flyte Tyme's "veteran" acts. Might be where the money and the demand are. smile

It sounds very derivative of their classic stuff but in a good way. While I do believe that change is good for most artists, I am happy that the SOS Band has found a way to recreate that trademark sound they had. Love it !

It´s interesting that this sounds like a Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis tune but was in fact produced by someone else. Sometimes I wonder if the creators of the Minneapolis Sound (Jam, Lewis, Prince etc.) are still able to recreate that sound. Most of the time I think they no longer have an ear for how they made that sound, whereas newer disciples have studied that sound so well that they know what was good about it in the first place.

It´s a good thing that Prince has changed over the years and refined his style to where he is today but it would be nice to hear some of those old Minneapolis Sound giants come up with something new and retro sounding at the same time. That MPLSound album had zero to do with what the real Minneapolis Sound was truly about.

Whitecocolatebrotha is right, this sounds like a cross between Just Be Good To Me and Just The Way You Like It.

And surprisingly, the result sounds good.

It usually never sounds good when classic acts try to recreate their trademark sound from their heyday but this one is different.

So how long has that new producer been working with them ?

And how do Jam and Lewis feel about him copying their trademark style?

I for one am looking forward to buying this new album if this little teaser is a hint of things to come.

Keep it classic.
