My parents talk to this very day about when they saw that performace back then.

They were floored! They had never seen anything like it before and thought he

was absolutely incredible.

This, along with MJ's Motown performance, and Beatles arrival are probably the top 3 important musical moments to land on television. I'm actually excited for the Get On Up biopic comming out this year, if not for a good performance by the lead actor but for the Stones and how they were mesmerized by James' talent.. He was unique, man, in every way.

Plus, as much as I'm a fan of Bruno Mars I hate it when some of his fans or general teen public say that he invented the footwork... Actually he improved it a little, but the original shoutout goes to James Brown, then Michael. (Same goes for people saying MJ invented the moonwalk -- He made it famous).

There is apparently a performance of JB and the Flames from a 1962 appearance on American Bandstand. I've never seen it.

James Brown was... 31 at this point? And we was about 35 when he changed the sound of music with his approach to THE FUNK between 1967 to the beginning of the 70s. This proves that you can still be creative an innovative even when you've reached 40 years old. Cause when James Brown was 40, the time was 1973, and that's when he released this:

Agreed. That's why I consider Jay-Z to be the "James Brown of Rap".
