You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I have a bunch of these, I forgot to list them all.

Is the Johnnie Taylor joint from the 70s or recent? I see it listed as like 2004. I want that old school feeling with my JT. Is Marvin Gaye at the Copa better than Live 74 and London 76? WHich Sam Cooke to get, if I'm just chosing one? Spinners or O'Jay, I'm only gettin one for now, which should it be?

The Johnnie Taylor one is from the same concert that is shown in a clip in the Wattstax movie and a few songs are on the Wattstax LPs, but the entire show wasn't released until 2004. Johnnie had never released a concert album while living, but did release a couple of live videos during the Malaco era. The Marvin Copa Live was recorded in 1966 and it's mainly showtunes/standards with some of his hits from the time like Hitch Hike. The hits are mostly in medleys. With Sam, the Copa album is standards (which is common for Copa concerts) and the Harlem Club is his songs, as it has a different audience than the Copacabana. I guess the O'Jays is the one I've heard the most, but my folks had both of them.

There's a couple by Teddy Pendergrass & The Commodores that are not completely live, and has some new (at the time) studio songs.

There's a lot of adult humor on these Millie CDs but lots of great soul singing, too!

I'm not into Maze that much, but I used to hear this all the time because different relatives played it, and some of it was played on the radio too.

I'd like to suggest "Etta Rocks The House". Makes me want to jump inside the stereo every time.

Earth, Wind & Fire's "Live In Rio" is awesome. I actually prefer it over "Gratitude". It was recorded in my favorite EWF era, 1980. They were the biggest band in the world @ this time & they are FIRED UP on it...

Know u said EWF Live, but I don't know if u saw that one...but check it out if not. cool
