Luniz ~ I Got 5 On It

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ba-doom-poom.

Ba-doom-poom.

Ba-doom-poom.

Ba doom-poom, ba-doom-poom, ba-doom-poom.

.

The lead singer of Timex Social Club singing the hook on a song that samples a Club Nouveau track, the band that originated from ex-TSC members wanting to branch out on their own?

That's kind of like Mavado (Red Dragon Clan) stealing Kabal's (renegade Black Dragon Clan) hookswords, isn't it?

.

Man, I'm on a roll with the geeky references today.

Actually, the main riff was first used in Timex Social Club's "Thinkin About Ya".

I used to like Yuk, around the time "Thugged Out : The Albulation" came out, that was a pretty good effort. But I haven't kept up with his releases for years now.

I also met him once in LA, which was a hilarious encounter. I was in LA making a documentary about Tupac for the BBC and was kicking it by Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. All of a sudden I see this dude walking with mad swag and wearing a huge dragon chain walking towards where we were at, he got closer and I realised it was Yukmouth. So I hit him up to see if he'd be interested in being interviewed for our documentary. He started telling us he was late for a studio session, I looked at him and from his eyes I could tell dude was blazed out of his mind. I told him it'd only take a few minutes, but he declined, saying how he was late. Then dude walked straight into Roscoe's. He wasn't late for shit, he just had the munch!!!!! Haha
