lol If it's somebody I like on the show, I DVR it and watch it the next day, however, when I say "watch" that means that I fast forward through Arsenio's boring monologues and go straight to either the interview or musical performance.

I did notice that El was going to be on last night and DVR'd it, I'll watch this evening when I get home. Glad to hear that he was sounding and looking good. biggrin

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Nope and that was the last year I had cable...

Seriously though, I didn't generally start getting into music till like 2-3 years ago. I'm getting into it more at a hardcore (if still mostly mainstream) level but I just started to do so around Grammy time last year. A late bloomer I am <img src=" src="../i/s/icon_razz.gif" />

I thought he looked high and seemed sad and his singing was not on par. I'm a big fan and it really made me sad for him.

eek excited OMFG I LOVEEEEEEE EL!!!'

OMG I'm in my office tearing up because I was just thinking about him over this past weekend and was gonna do a search.

There was a clip here around the time of Whitney's death when her and El see each other and embrace....that clip stuck with me till this very day. I so wanted to see them BOTH rise up over their demons because there is only one Whitney and one EL.....

Look at that fine ass MOTHERFUCKER right there lol WHEW Naughty YAAAASSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Made my damn day! thumbs up!

Okay so I just watched on my DVR and my goodness, Arsenio's show gets worse and worse. His band is bland and he just annoys me now. What happened to that hilarious guy who co-starred in Coming to America playing Eddie Murphy's best friend? Will someone please call that guy?

Anyway, saw El and he did an okay job. Seem like he didn't really get into his music until the last performance. Other than that, he seemed so sad. I just wanted to sit on his lap with a box of Kleenex while he was on the piano, put his head on my chest and just let him cry it out. Poor guy. You can definitely tell he's been through some really rough times. confused Just glad to see him still performing.

I wonder what Chico DeBarge has been up to these days. That album "Long Time No See" was my shit!!!! nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

yeah, Arsenio show is sad

and it seems like Debarge could use some more back-up singers kind of like Chaka Khan uses whenever she performs live - would help drown out the pitch problems and the missed high notes

he looks great though and glad he stopped using crack

He sounded very nice and looked even better!

As far as Arsenio, although I have not watched the show since it's been back on, I'm glad it is because, other than some random award shows, this is really the only outlet classic R&B artists have to let people know they are still around and, in many cases, making new music.

So glad to see El doing O.K. After reading his brother Tommy's book,I will never utter a single negative word about the drug abuse by him and his siblings. Their upbringing was just tragic. Their dad makes Joe Jackson look like Mother Theresa.

Does Arsenio (or Jimmy) air in South America & Africa?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I didn't see the show with El DeBarge, but I want to say that there is nothing wrong with Arsenio's show. He's had some good guests and sometimes he can be funny and sweet.

I can just imagine the comments when it gets cancelled. Some (notice how I said some and not all), will be blaming the white man. confused

You made it, unnecessarily, about black and white. Nobody held the door open and forced you down that hallway. You opened it and strolled right in all on your own. If it's not about black and white, then don't MAKE IT about black and white. End of. If a white person makes that same point the race card, "what does it have to do with being black" argument comes out in a hot second. I've been dealing with it my whole life and I'll call bullshit on it every time.

Just watched this earlier about El, was made a few years ago but still worth checking out:

After reading his brother Tommy's book,I will never utter a single negative word about the drug abuse by him and his siblings. Their upbringing was just tragic. Their dad makes Joe Jackson look like Mother Theresa.

I remember watching some of the Unsung episode about DeBarge, but I didn't know their upbringing was so tragic. It's sad that El, Chico, Mark & Bobby all went to jail, but it makes more sense now because of their upbringing they got into drug use and had their issues. I'm glad for El that he's doing better as he's one of my favorite singers and although he seemed abit 'off' on Arsenio, maybe he was nervous, he talks about how he gets nervous before going on stage in the documentary I've posted above. Hopefully El, Chico & Mark and the other members of the family with issues get them resolved because like Terry Lewis said in the documentary, the DeBarge's are right up there with The Jacksons, Sylvers as being very talented musically.
