Kylie: "Into the Blue'' New Single, Album Details

January 11, 2014
Link

Kylie Minogue has announced details of her new single.

The singer will release 'Into The Blue' on March 16, a track on which she has worked with Kelly Sheehan who has in the past worked with Mary J Blige, Beyonce and Rita Ora. An album will follow later in the year.

Producers on the album include Greg Kurstin, Pharrell Williams, MNEK and Ariel Rechtshaid. The latter recently co-produced Haim's debut ''Days Are Gone''.

Kylie said in a statement: "2013 was a year of big change, planning and preparation for me and I'm so excited that 2014 is finally here so I can share this new music . 'Into The Blue' is really special to me as it encapsulates a lot of what I've been feeling - I can't wait for it to be out there."

It's the first new studio album from Kylie since 2010's 'Aphrodite', which was regarded as a comeback after suffering breast cancer. That album, which included collaborations with Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears and Calvin Harris, debuted at number 1 on the UK Album Chart.

There have been compilations released since 2010, as well as The Abbey Road Sessions in 2012, a collection of orchestral re-recordings of her most-famous songs.

I fail to recognize her in the photo. Apparently it's a new look, but they've chosen something that doesn't look like her at all.

Yeah, me too.

I can't wait, really looking forward to it. She was filming for the video in London a week or so ago.

She was fantastic on The Voice last night too in her new role as judge.

Clearly not the sound fans of her generic, early 21st century europop want.

Generic? Fever forged a sound that went on to define electropop that others tried to mimic.

I drew the smile upon my face
I paved the road that would one day leave me lonely
No angels too good to fall from grace
If she let go of whatever keeps her holy

But I'm still here holding on too tight, to everything that I left behind
I don't care if this world is mine
Cause this is all I know

When I got my back up against the wall
Don't need no one to rescue me
Cause I quit waiting up for no miracle
Tonight I'm running free
Into The Blue, Into The Blue
With nothing to lose, Into the blue

I'm not ashamed of all my mistakes
Cause through the wind
I still kept the fire burning
These memories that I can't erase
Always remind me I'm on an endless journey

But I'm still here holding on too tight
To everything I left behind
I don't care if this world is mine
Cause this is all I know

When I got my back up against the wall
Don't need no one to rescue me
Cause I quit waiting up for no miracle
Yeah tonight I'm running free
Into the blue, into the blue
With nothing to lose
Into the blue

I'll go where nobody knows
Wherever the wind is blowing
Even if I'm alone

When I got my back up against the wall
Don't need no one to rescue me
Cause I quit waiting up for no miracle
Yeah tonight I'm running free
Into the blue, with nothing to lose
Into the blue

Kylie Minogue 'Into The Blue': 8 Reasons Why Kylie's New Release Is The Best Pop Single You'll Hear All Year

BaggersThe Huffington Post UK20/01/14 15:33

Yes, I know that's a rather grand statement to make considering we're not even a full month into the new year, but after listening to Kylie Minogue's highly anticipated new single 'Into The Blue' (which leaked online ahead of it's official debut on 27 Jan over the weekend) for the 87th time, I'm sticking to my guns

Not only is 'Into The Blue' a bona-fide, smack you between the eyes, instant pop classic but it manages the rare feat of getting better with every listen, not something anyone said about anything on Lady Gaga's over-hyped 'Artpop' - as much as we might have wanted to.

Yep, Kylie is back to rescue pop once again and here's 8 reasons why she deserves to be No.1 for the rest of the year...

1. It's impossible not to smile when the hands-in-the-air, joyous chorus kicks in, which is no mean feat considering we're at the arse end of January and living on Cup a Soups and Pot Noodles.

2. Sorry, did we say chorus? We meant choruses. After all, why have one chorus when you can have two? Not a first for Kylie (see also 'Get Outta My Way') but still rare in the land of pop. Just when you think nothing can top the first chorus of 'When I got my back up against the wall...' she tops it with 'Into the baa-luuuuueeeee, with nothing to looooose'. Amazing.

3. It's euphoric and anthemic but also ever so slightly melancholy AT THE SAME TIME. You'll laugh, you'll cry etc, etc.

4. Vocally, Kylie has never sounded stronger. Her voice is rich and layered and, unlike a lot of other singers, you can actually hear the words she's singing - and no, I don't care if that makes me sound like your nana.

5. You get the feeling newly-single Kylie could've penned the lyrics herself (she didn't). If 'All The Lovers' was the sound of Kylie in lurrrrve, then 'Into The Blue' is the sound of a defiant Ms. Minogue loving her independence.

6. It sounds current and classy without jumping on any obvious musical bandwagon but still distinctly 'Kylie' and follows the classic pop formula of verse / chorus / verse / chorus / bridge / chorus. In other words, it's not unreleased taster track, 'Skirt'. This is a very good thing.

7. The strings. Pop + orchestral strings never fails (see also 'Confide In Me')

8. After one listen it will take up residence inside your head but you won't want to serve it an eviction notice like you would for say, 'Gangnam Style'. Job done.

'Into The Blue' is released on 16 March

Kylie Minogue‘s much-anticipated new album finally has a name. Her 12th opus is called Kiss Me Once and has a suitably flirtatious cover. It’s a close-up shot of the Australian diva’s famous pout — as seen through a sheet of wet glass. At a time when the visual component of music plays a larger role than ever, the gorgeous artwork certainly leaves a lasting impression.

It looks like Kylie isn’t taking chances this era. New single “Into The Blue” is an absolutely exquisite slice of dance-pop and its artwork is an equally pulse-raising affair. If the title and cover of Kiss Me Once is any indication, the 45-year-old’s move to Roc Nation has really brought her inner-sex kitten. Not that it was ever really that hidden.

I don't hear the Katy comparison. I love Kylie's voice! What is driving me crazy is how far away the Kiss Me Once album seems.

I just find it boring and slow, kind of like 'Roar.' I still love Kylie in fact I've been watching every episode of The Voice UK on my TV just for her and I'm not living in the UK.

her last album, while not a pop masterpiece, was a welcome return to Euro-Pop/Dance, with catchy choruses and glossy melodies...

hopefully this new album will follow the same pattern; the farther away from american shit-dance/fake R&B, the better...
