JT will def lead the pack.

I hope these albums get some appreciation in the R&B/Rock field:

The Side Effects of Your Love by Fantasia

Electric Lady by Janelle Monae

David Bowie's new CD

Jake Bugg's Jake bugg is tight and should be considered, himself should win Best New Artist if Kendrick doesn't get it..

Anyway here are the albums I think are going to make AOTY's final cut:

RANDOM ACCESS MEMORIES

THE HEIST

RED

UNORTHODOX JUKEBOX

THE 20/20 EXPERIENCE

janelle needs to be nominated and win at least in the urban category..because in the R&B she won't have chances against timberlake and thicke white basic asses.. confused

I think she has a chance in the R&B field, from the submissions I saw, Robin & JT never submitted to the R&B category, only the Best Traditionnal performance, so what left is Best R&B song/Performance/Urban Contemporary.. I hope she wins that, her main threat is Rihanna with her album. Plus, don't forget that Janelle has Best Music Video award in the bag from now.

I frankly think and believe that Primetime or Queen deserve a nod in the main categories (ROTY & SOTY)! They're great songs!

I'd be surprised if the Grammys didn't turn into the "Justin Timberlake Show!" His biggest competition is in the Record of the Year category where Robin Thicke clearly had the biggest record.

Rhianna is not even R&B. Has she ever been nominated or won in that category?

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Dominate Grammy Nominations

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, an independent rap duo from Seattle that became one of the biggest hit makers of the year, opened the Grammy Awards’ nominations special on CBS on Friday night with a performance of their hit “Thrift Shop,” and then went on to dominate the nominations themselves.

The duo are up for seven prizes at the 56th annual awards, with nods in three of the top four categories: album of the year (for “The Heist”), song of the year (“Same Love”) and best new artist.

Male performers — and hip-hop acts in particular — were prominent in the nominations for the next Grammy ceremony, to be held in Los Angeles on Jan. 26. The rappers Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar also earned nods in seven categories; so did Justin Timberlake. The rapper Drake is up for four awards, as is Pharrell Williams, a singer and producer ubiquitous on the charts over the last year.

Also nominated for four Grammys are Taylor Swift, Daft Punk, Bruno Mars and Lorde, a 17-year-old New Zealander whose hit “Royals” is up for both record of the year (for the recording) and best song (for songwriting); in a surprise, however, she was not nominated for best new artist.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that awards the Grammys, used to announce the nominations through an ordinary news conference. But for the last six years, it has tried to stir excitement with a prime-time TV special with the rapper and actor LL Cool J as host. Other performers on Friday’s show included Lorde, Robin Thicke and, by satellite, Ms. Swift from Sydney, Australia, and Katy Perry from Toronto.

In addition to “The Heist,” the candidates for album of the year are Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories,” Mr. Lamar’s “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City,” Ms. Swift’s “Red” and, in somewhat of a surprise, “The Blessed Unrest,” a minor hit by Sara Bareilles.

For record of the year, “Royals” will contend with Mr. Mars’s “Locked Out of Heaven,” Imagine Dragons’ sleeper hit “Radioactive,” and two songs featuring Mr. Williams: Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” (also featuring T.I.). For song of the year, “Royals” and “Same Love” are up against Mr. Mars’s “Locked Out of Heaven,” Ms. Perry’s “Roar” and Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason.”

Besides Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the nominees for best new artist are Mr. Lamar, the country singer Kacey Musgraves and two British performers, James Blake and Ed Sheeran.

I am convinced that this is all politics. Jay Z gets 9 fucking nominations for making his shittiest album?! Fuck outta here, B! No Janelle Monae? The Grammys are utter and complete bullshit. I swear we are living in an era of some of the worst music ever being created!

I always thought cutoff for material was Sept. 30th? But if that's the case then it does explain her absence. But I'd much rather go with academy ignorance instead.

Wrong. The cut-off is September 30th. They just chose to ignore her fantastic album..just like a couple of years ago when they ignored Jill Scott's great album "Light of the sun".

5. J. Cole Left Outside Of Major Rap Noms

There were so many strong hip-hop contenders this year -- Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Drake, Jay Z -- that J. Cole, who snagged a best new artist nomination two years ago and released a hit album last June, seemed to be the odd man out this year. Born Sinner surprisingly did not make the grade for best rap album, and although his Top 20 smash "Power Trip" earned a best rap/sung collaboration nomination, Cole was unable to make the leap into categories like album of the year or record of the year.

I looked at all the nominees and people that don't Follow music as much as some of us do are gonna say "Who the Fuck are these Performers?" Glad to see Dionne Warwick back in the Game with a Grammy Nod. Fantasia has 3 nods. Tamar Braxton has 3 nods and she SHOULD have been nominated for "Best New Artist"...There are several Latin categories..How do they justify having a LATIN GRAMMYS plus several Latin Categories in the regular GRAMMYS? I think most of the nominees nominated for 2 or more will take home at least 1...
