Pebbles also released an official statement to shut down the rumor from that satirical site creambmp.com that she is suing Left Eye's estate:

LMAO...she is so freakin' paranoid lol As someone on this thread pointed out,Bossip is a satire site. There's no need for any celebrity to write a note like this! Pebbles is so scared and paranoid about how she is perceived by the public.Someone should tell her that,NO ONE is checkin' for her,and they haven't been since the late 80s!!

As previously reported by NewsOne, Pebble’s daughter Ashley Reid defended her mother against the allegations on Twitter.

After a series of tweets voicing her displeasure with the film, which she claims is a false representation of her mother, Reid directly tweeted Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas what some on Twitter perceived to be a threat.

See tweets below:

@1klexus_ my mom was a thief? All the money my taxes have paid for your welfare, and you got the nerve to point fingers? Sheesh!

Actually, Pebbs wasn't robbed at all. She was married to a very rich man-he left his dying wife for Pebbles-and he set up a management company to launch her career. I believe he also handled other acts, including Bobby Brown at one point. Anyway, once Pebbs laid eyes on LA, she left the rich hubby for him and the rest is history. No, old girl had it quite cushy in the record biz. Maybe she learned from her time on the streets-rumors abound that old girl was hooking on the streets of Oakland back in the day.

There are a lot of rumors about Pebbles...for example that she was with 1 of Oakland's top drug dealers.

What we do know is she was a teen mom when she had her daughter. She was married to her daughter's father very briefly, a year or less. Then she met an older, married man whose wife was dying of an illness and got with him. He paid for her to make a demo of "Mercedes Boy", which led to her getting a record deal. After she met LA Reid, she left her second husband for him. After Pebbles and LA divorced, she later married former baseball player turned minister Otis Nixon. His continued drug problems led to the demise of her marriage. She married again recently to a high-profile attorney.

It's also rumored she has a secret son (not with LA), as there is a guy who claims she is his mother. He looks like her as well, but that's unproven.

Anyway, Pebbles' daughter Ashley is a mess! She and 1 of her brothers has a ustream radio show. On last week's show, they trashed the TLC movie, Chilli, T-Boz, and Ashley even dissed Toni Braxton. If any of you want to hear it, here is the link. I can summarize later if y'all want:

BTW did y'all know that Vanessa Williams wrote about Pebbles stealing "Girlfriend" in her autobiography last year? Both Pebbles and Vanessa were recording their debut albums at the same time (1987). Vanessa was pregnant at the time though so her recording and release got delayed. Vanessa didn't go into detail, but basically Pebbles walked in, heard the song, loved it and then convinced the label to give her the song instead of Vanessa. Here is the excerpt from her book "You Have No Idea":

.

Yeah,I remember hearing this story.Vanessa also said that LA and Babyface didn't even notify her that the song was being given to another artist. It appears that Pebbles worked her "charm" and convinced them to give it to her.

Vanessa ought to thank her lucky stars. I always thought "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy" were pretty silly songs that were more befitting for a very young girl to be singing. Vanessa deserved better-quality material than that and I honestly don't think people would have taken her seriously as a recording artist.

"Girlfriend" was a fun song in 1988,but I don't think it has aged well.I'm not too fond of it now.

On the other hand,I still like "Dreamin" and "Darlin' I" by Vanessa Williams music

Better than all those. Vanessa has a handful of great songs, but none as good as "Girlfriend."

I've always loved the "Work to Do" cover, but I think my favorite VW song is probably "The Comfort Zone."

"Girlfriend" was hot in its day...it helped make LA and Face as a production team, had a cool collab w/ Pebbles and The Deele, and was a fun pop-y tune that launched the gorgeous Pebbles into the big time. LOL...what more can you ask of a tune? cool

I can see why Vanesssa was salty losing out on this one to Perri! wink

It was a banger back then and I still rock it out sometimes now...tho "Mercedes Boy" is my fav jam of hers.

Vanessa Williams had a similar type tune then called "He's Got The Look"...that was the style of RnB/pop then folks!!! lol
