MGMT's New Album Went to FYE and picked up the new MGMT album. After having a rip of the Rdio stream for a week, I've really grown to love this album! I know MGMT doesn't have many fans here on the org but I'd really love to hear what people think of the new record anyway. One of the songs on the album (Plenty Of Girls) reminds me of a mix of Paisley Park and Todd Rundgren. So what's everyones thoughts on it?

i couldn't really decide, on first listen, if it was brilliant or absolute shite seems like most reviewers are polarised by it too. it either gets a very solid ranking or it gets the lowest ranking possible. . i've since listened to it a couple more times and personally, i like it. there are a few songs on there that i'm absolutely nuts about and my favorit 2 are "mystery disease" and "introspective". man, those are cool. . the rest of the album, i feel i still have to listen to a few more times. it's a really, really, really dense record with so much going on.

I think it's brilliant personally, perhaps a little too overproduced at points (especially compared to their previous albums), but it's definitely unique. Mystery Disease and Introspection are my jam! The only song on the album I don't listen too that often is I Love You Too, Death. Even then it's not to the fault of the song, it's more that it just doesn't interest me everytime I play the album. Purple is the color of my heart,
