I pretty sure it's available on Amazon on the 10th.

I was sitting in a car dealership this week & one of the songs from MDNA was playing while we waited. I thought this isn't a bad song - I should pick up a cheap used copy. Then the rapping started & I changed my mind. razz

i listened to a few of the tracks, shes not singing live completely that DAT is supplying 75% of her vocals.

The vocals on her live releases are tampered with, they are never a good indication of what she actually sang live on the show. But on this tour she used a lot of backing tapes, especially in the first segment, the first three songs are completely lip-synced for example.

Oh wow - I have just finished watching this on Bluray.

Very disappointed with the editing - it is too much editing and makes the viewing (especially the first half) unpleasant with too much editing and switching camera angles. It is not pleasant to the eye and makes it so hard to watch.

And yes, the vocals are tampered with quite a lot -

overall this DVD is over-produced big time and just plain hard to watch as it is not fluid enough.

But I think the show overall would have been OK, if not edited every 5 seconds. neutral

I saw the show on the Epix site when it premiered a while ago. I was not impressed. I absolutely loved the directing and editing of the Confessions show and Sticky and Sweet too. Perhaps Madge should stick to leaving these tasks for the professionals. I also felt like this tour was just something to do as a result of her Live Nation contract and it wasn't very inspired and authentic.

^It is definitely her least inspired show for me, way too many self-references (don't wanna say recycle or rehash), I just hope the next tour won't be like this (i.e. repeating 5 songs from the previous tour). But it still has some great moments like "Erotic Candy Shop".

gollygirl, what about the technical qualities, how is the sound and the image? On other forums several bad reviews have been circulating about grainy picture and bad sound... confused

Yes sometimes the picture is grainy - which surprised me being a bluray - and I think this is because she edited in too much from other shows that were not filmed in HQ. The sound seemed OK to me - but I only have a soundbar and not full 5.1 (5 speaker) set up - but I had no complaints on the audio - but the frames constantly changing got on my nerves - in fact it started to look silly as in one song, one second she had gloves on, then gloves off and then on & off - and in another song totally different costumes - it really detracted from it all.

I think she was so hung up with the visuals to be "perfect" that it lost its credibility.

Confessions Tour is amazing - this is MDNA is dreadful.

And seriously? Could she not have picked a better cover?

Why does Madonna have such terrible covers on her things?

^Thanks for the info! I'm glad the sound has no issues as I'll be listening to this release a LOT more than watching it. I have no clue why she insisted on using several different footage where the differences are so notable, I did watch "Turn Up The Radio" from the broadcast and it is annoying.

If I recall well, she insists on her live releases looking more like music videos but I agree on this tour she went overboard with the visuals, all her people could talk about is the production team behind her videos and how big her screens are but that was all (and yet something like "I'm Addicted" has no notable screen visuals if I'm not wrong). They should have focused more on the arrangements of the songs, it's a disappointment she rehashed so many album versions ("Human Nature") and The Immaculate Collection mixes ("Like A Prayer") after her last tour where everything except "Ray Of Light" had a brand new arrangement!

I agree "Live to Tell 86" she ought to have thought more about the music arrangments. I was pretty angry at her for missing Australia out on this tour (once again.....) but glad now I did not spend $1000 on the ticket (I bet it would have cost around that for a decent seat)?

I saw her here in Australian in 1983 - The Girlie Show - at the MCG in Melbourne and that was amazing - but I feel apart from her Confessions Tour - all else has not been great since.

But I would still go and see her - coz it is Madonna !

I also felt with this new DVD - too many crowd shots edited in as well, to try and make the concert look exciting and upbeat?

I hated her "Like a Virgin" - wish she kept the pants on, the saggy bum looked awful and the arrangement was dreadful.

I did like Vogue as that reminded me of the Madonna we loved - Blonde Ambition Tour time - 1990s - she was awesome then.

The album itself was disappointing to start with but thought she may have redeemed herself with the show - but this missed the mark (iMO).

the itunes reviews are saying the same thing, overdubs and not live, studio recreations

Yes, very disappointing - you only have to go to You Tube and watch some audience filmed ones to see they are different to the release. Pity she has become so insecure to do this now - Britney Spears did the same with her DVD release too - was terrrible.

Celine Dion did it too. And unfortunately this is nothing new for Madonna, there have been attempts of cleaning up live vocals for her live releases. For example "Express Yourself" from The Girlie Show sounds different on the DVD than the HBO broadcast, on the DVD they mixed album vocals for the chorus whereas in the HBO version and other live recordings it sounds live...

Apparently the US copies of the blu-ray are being recalled.

http://www.billboard.com/...ufacturing

I've got the 2CD/DVD (I'm in Europe) and the picture quality of my copy is definitely not like as pictured above, so I can see why those copies are being recalled.

I forgot to post here about my viewing of the show earlier. The picture quality is not amazing, but I think it is fine, it is obvious many different footage was used and some of them seem to be somehow "less sharp" if that makes sense. I thought it was weird how half of "Human Nature" and the whole "Like A Virgin" / "Love Spent" numbers were in black and white, plus those stills in the latter, she probably thought not enough editing possibilites in that one so she had to use photos?

The sound is really good, also on the live CDs, maybe indeed not enough bass but high quality still. Her vocals are practically re-recorded and touched up compared to an audience recording of this tour, funnily enough "Human Nature" sounds like the Sticky & Sweet Tour CD/DVD vocals, it's possible they used the same vocals!

I actually like the editing most of the time, I don't mind the music video feel. But it only shows how the most crafted segment is the first, many visuals there while the rest of the tour is a LOT more basic and is hardly anymore elaborate than the Re-Invention Tour. The editing makes "Vogue" look grander than it is (her moves are almost nonexistent and the screens are an afterthought) but for "I'm Addicted" you can't get the jist of the performance because of it. The singalong of "Like A Prayer" is horrible especially if you're listening to the live album!

Not sure what else I could add. "Erotic Candy Shop" is an obvious highlight both visually and audio-wise, while the "Justify My Love" video interlude is dreadful, especially the music that annoys the hell out of me!

Read on "Madonnaliscious" website the Bluray DVD has been recalled in US for sound and picture issues, but not anywhere else.
