great idea a topic for my girl wink anyway it's been confirmed another featuring with Esperanza Spalding on the album and Cee lo hinted about being on the album as well..it should be 19 tracks apparently from i.tunes plus 4 bonus tracks if you pre order a special edition at target...( i WANT you back, hytb, and remixes of queen and electric lady)..I think prime time will be the third single they already shot a video this week in L.A. a lot of people that already listened to it said it's a very good track, it seems to be a slow song, a love duet..

I know of 2 other tracks one is called we were rock and roll and it's a funky track ( featured in a small part in one of her commercial as covergirl testimonial) she said she wrote it for an ex lover and another track called I think what U love or givin' u what U love that seems rock influenced and she performed it at a secret show in L.a and at an afterparty in Chicago with Prince last year....and I also heard a micro piece of another track on twitter during one of her first listening parties which sounded more 90's hip hop..for what I heard because I didn't listen to we were rock and roll and the last 90'ish track entirely I liked what I heard...

If I was able to put videos on this forum because I don't understand how to do it sorry I would post them..at least the ones on youtube...

Yes! If anyone sees an upload of this, please share. Wish I didn't live so far from New Orleans.

Also, has anyone found an active Janelle Monae fan forum (like this one)? I've had no luck so far.

Me, too! I am listening to the whole ArchAndroid CD right now and realizing that a lot of the songs need a couple listens before you realize how brilliant they are! Hoping for more of the same on Electric Lady

janelle was sick yesterday but it was said she was still very good..( as always)..anyway there was a controversy all over twitter because some people among beyonce's stans ( I can't stand them or her) started chanting beyonce beyonce when janelle was still on stage..I didn't want to perform at a festival with those stans in the crowd they are the worst ( beyonce's fanbase)...and I know they're mad at janelle for a while because she is the cryptonite against all what beyonce represents but c'mon..

Yeah, that's lame if Beyonce's fans did that. Just rude, and I doubt Beyonce was happpy about it, either. I don't mind Beyonce really - but my favorite artists will always be those with their own vision and ideas.

mines too..I don't listen to Beyonce for that reason she isn't what I consider a real artist..anyway janelle was sick and still was better than most of these artists at the top of their health...she ended the set destroying everything on stage and some bey''fans thought it was because she was angry lol when instead it was part of her set.. razz Also glad she made perform three acts of her record company the Wondaland Arts Society at the festival though...she curated a stage with Covergirl and she called 3 wondaland acts: st beauty, deep cotton, roman gianarthur..plus chrisette michele and bilal..

deep cotton were the only rock act at that festival along with janelle who is a blend of different genres combined..people weren't ready lol

With anticipation heavy for Beyoncé, Janelle Monáe made sure all eyes stayed on her for the full duration of her 70-minute set. Aided by the backing of her band, which had as intense enthusiasm as her despite feeling under the weather, Monáe gave life to songs from her "ArchAndroid" album, such as "Tightrope," but left out singles from her upcoming album, "The Electric Lady." She drew in and connected with the audience via tributes to Michael Jackson ("I Want You Back"), James Brown (appropriating his cape routine during "Tightrope") and Prince ("Take Me With U" and "Let's Go Crazy"). But it was her closing of "Come Alive (War of the Roses)" that thrilled, as she walked through the aisles dancing and sparking a call and response with fans. Once back on stage, Monáe, in true rock star form, threw down the mic and drums and stormed off stage.

During the interview, at the 19th Annual Essence Festival in New Orleans, Monáe talks about her success and how her upbringing motivated and shaped her today. While we're waiting for some videos of Janelle's performance at Essence this year, check out this 2 min video of Janelle performing part of the soon-to-be-released song "Electric Lady" at the AfroPunk Festival in Brooklyn last year. I love her dance moves in this!

I somehow got a Gnars Barkley' "Crazy" Deja vu, the chorus sounds a bit similar don't u think :p?! I loved the song anyway, Gotta love what Janelle puts in her work, that funky/jazz-y stuff... I just dig it,, But i'm not seeing any other video from now on, I mean c'Mon people, don't spoil it, once the album is released I'mma download it on my iPhone, go to some secure & silent place and turn everything on and then have that magical moment when art sounds more funkier than ever...! That's what I hope at least...

Wow, amazing pictures posted in the last 24 hours. Thanks, everyone!

I am just catching up on Janelle's earlier stuff. It all blows me away. If you haven't seen this yet, check out the 2008 video of "Many Moons" from the Metropolis EP. It's more like a short concept film - you can really see Janelle's talent and vision in this. Can't believe I just discovered it.

I'm quite excited at the prospect of Esperanza Spalding being on the album, I admire her a lot.

.

I just hope I get the chance to see Monae live again, those Archandroid shows were amazing. I have a feeling the venues will be bigger this time though. I'm guessing.

.

Anyone remember her show on KCRW from 2010? You can listen or watch the video here http://www.kcrw.com/music...elle_monae just click the appropriate blue tab. The show, including interview is about an hour long.

Excitable, chaotic persona, this Janelle of 'unannounced sexual orientation' Monae.

Tries overly hard to be 'alternative'...is she a musician, comedienne, drag artist, all 3?...or none at all?

Her music goes nowhere, and is kinda superficial.

Takes more than a 'pretty face' for me, so I remain unimpressed.

Maybe the girls will like her...just because.

I disagree and I am not sure why you feel you have to label Janelle or put her into some kind of box.

Do you also wanna say Prince has to choose between being a musician, actor, writer, fashion icon ...?

I also saw that Cee lo interview, it was on his "Lay It Down" show on Fuse.

Janelle played a few songs, too - I think at least one with Cee lo, but now they have taken the full-length video down. I hate it when that happens.

I still haven't seen Janelle live. I was gonna go to AfroPunk 2011 (she and Cee lo were headlining) but it was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. The next year, when she did play AfroPunk, I wasn't living in NYC any more. I am vowing to catch her on the Electric Lady tour, though.

is her music superficial? oh really? are you sure you're speaking about janelle monae ???because if you ever listened to one of her records you can't say she is superficial she is the total opposite of a superficial person and artist .. mad the pretty face is a plus ..smh,,,she is always so socially inclined in her music ( and mad creative).you can't say she is a superficial artist..you can't..

yes it was exactly that show on fuse with cee lo...! wink

I remember that afropunk that year was cancelled because of Irene...sorry I'm sure you will see her for this tour.. wink

about her she's only a musician ( I don't get that criticism)and yes she became also a fashion icon but since for ex she's also a trained actress ( she studied for broadway) I don't have problems if she would want to test herself in other aspects of art..as long as you have the talent I don't see any problems..and she has it.. wink
