Janet.

As an independent, experienced woman now in your 40s...ever considered producing YOUR album on YOUR OWN?

Just a thought.

Not trying to hide so why wouldn't it be transparent.

I'm not looking forward to more weak songs and weaker vocals as some are, but you set your own standards for yourself.

If you like it I love it, but don't expect me not to criticize.

Janet has been working with Ian Cross on her new album since at least last September. He has been following her around the world, making music in Dubai, Los Angeles, an island retreat and now Istanbul. According to Tommy Parker, she has been cooking up some Brazilian flavored songs. Also involved are the Avila brothers, who created some of the fan favorite tracks on Damita Jo and 20 YO ('Like You Don't Love Me', 'Moist', 'Spending Time With You', 'Enjoy' and 'Damita Jo').

It will be a concept album (something we've come to expect from a Janet record), and she is not working with ordinary pop "beat makers" (thank God). She's been writing non-stop, and has assembled an impressive team of musicians - people that have also worked with James Taylor, Nora Jones, Tracy Chapman and John Mayer.

The hyperbolic bs.

Didn't she get married? Guess that took up none of her time.

Can't wait to see the praise for her shit on a cracker.

lol Of course she got married, but it was a small ceremony that likely only took up a couple hours of her time at best. Man, you are the epitome of pressed. Did Janet run over your puppy or something? I mean, seriously. It's gotten to pathetic extremes. Take your clown ass some damn where and have a seat.

From Ian Cross:

June 1
Music has taken me to some crazy places but I never thought it would bring me here. This is Doha, the capital of Qatar. It occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the much larger Arabian Peninsula. Its sole land border is with Saudi Arabia to the South, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. It's home for the next few weeks. Qatar is kinda like the Switzerland of the middle east. Very peaceful and neutral in it's politics. They are a very kind, thoughtful people. And quite frankly, too rich to think about becoming suicide bombers. Janet and I always talked about getting away from it all and recording in paradise. Given her new husband is from Doha we packed up a studio, rented a villa on the beach and came here to make music. I know, I know. I'm one lucky bastard.
April 4
Making records is hard work. Making history is even harder. It sure helps when your best friends are some of the most talented people on the planet. In the lab with Bobby Ross Avila, Iz Issiah Avila, Zach Djanikian, Joe Gallagher, Anthony Saunders and Matt Marin.

Ian Cross has a current job title of: A&R/ Producer Engineer at Janet Jackson Music. Maybe she's started her own label?

Feet up on the console.

Someone on twitter the other day posted...

Spotted: Janet Jackson doing a photo next door in #GoldenBeach #Miami. I was told she will be back today to wrap things up.

Album photo shoot, perhaps?

SUPRMAN's been quite measured and composed in his comments actually, simply reacting to everyone elses 'stan-like' behaviour.

As I said above, can't an independent 40+ year old woman with many years in this industry produce her own album like, say...just ONCE?

She's an average singer who took full advantage of the 'video age' that her brother created, mainly.

Truly the sister of a genius.

I don't get why it's such a huge deal that Janet's not the MAIN producer on her work. It's not like that's unusual at all -- Erykah Badu, Donna Summer, and hell, even 2Pac are a few artists I can think of off the top of my head who hire producers to help them create albums. Like them, Janet is almost always (with the exception of Discipline) involved in creating her albums, and generally co-produces. Part of being good at what you do is knowing when and what to delegate to others.

"SUPRMAN's been quite measured and composed in his comments actually, simply reacting to everyone elses 'stan-like' behaviour."

And this....is just a bizarre statement. Of course people are going to get excited about artists they like and defend them. What's weird is to be completely obsessed with someone you hate, as SUPRMAN obviously is. That's not normal or healthy behavior. Yes, you can sit here and whine "BUT JANET STANS ARE SO MUCH WORSE ZOMG!!111!!!!111 Eleventy-oooooooone!!!!111!!!!!!!" but the fact of the matter is, that very same conversation happens about Beyonce stans, Christina stans, MJ stans, and blah blah blah. Until an actual study is commissioned on the topic and published in a peer-reviewed journal, it's a lot of losers with too much time on their hands looking for something to piss and moan about to give their lives meaning.

Try to focus on things you actually like or can change -- your life will be much happier, trust me.

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex
No one less beautiful
Or more special than the next

Don't forget Michael. Can we honestly say there would be an Off The Wall and Thriller without Quincy or a Dangerous without Teddy? Bad and History are really the only albums that might have happened without the aide of a producer. Just because a person doesn't solely produce their album(s) doesn't mean they aren't a good songwriter or even a good producer.

Wholeheartedly agree. Unless you're Prince or Springsteen or somebody, most major pop acts have collaborators in the studio...MJ included. It's SO BEYOND not even a big deal...it's mostly her--ahem--haters who always have something to say about who she's collaborating with and why.

Amen. It also baffles me how people like SUPRMAN, who so obviously dislike a performer, will spend more time in said performer's thread instead of creating and/or adding to threads of performers they enjoy. It's kind of sad and disturbing. But, on the flipside, it's hilarious as well.

What "stan-like behavior" are you referring to? Creating a thread about an artist's upcoming record is "stan-like"? Lord have mercy.

I see that I was correct when I said that when Janet's PR team released the "billion dollar" rumor in the media that she was PROMOTING a new album release. At least, this time it is not about how much weight she has gained or lost. That tactic has become lame and PREDICTABLE.Just wondering, has Janet ever written any songs ON HER OWN? I know about "Black Cat", but that was with Jelly Bean Benitz or someone. Her fans give her credit for the Control album and every song on that album-melody and lyrics- were written by Jam and Lewis. I am asking because Janet stans always talk about Beyonce not writing her songs, yet, Janet does th same thing and gets credit-co-writer. Why the hypocrisy? If Janet gets credit for being a "songwriter", then so should Beyonce. Just a thought.
