Delayed it? So you mean to tell me she STILL got a grammy nomination for her SUPERB cover of "Lately" and the CD the song appears on is not even gonna drop till MONTHS after the GRAMMYS have come & gone?...LOL...I'm scared of Nita....
So in other words I could release 1 single every year during the GRAMMY qualifying year and I COULD get a nomination without having a completed CD in the stores?

The project is done but delayed due to the fact her label emi/blue note was bought by universal last year so those projects are slowly coming out Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. Ok since you know it's been going on forever..Name another Artist or Duo/Group (other than Nita) that released a single, got nominated for a Grammy then the CD the song appears on came out months later...
And I'm not talking about singles that get nominated AFTER the CD drops..Toni Braxton's 1st album is an example of an Album that continued to release singles 2 years in a row and she continued to get GRAMMY nods for the singles....That's rare but it happens...
Now you name me an Artist/Group that dropped a Single, got a GRAMMY Nomination and the planned CD wasnt even on the shelves yet....

Well Beyonce and Adele get nominated for material without the release of an album. Adele got a nod recently for a live performance from a DVD. If that ain't enough proof, dude, then okay. | |

Nope...Beyonce & Adele's CD's were in the stores when their singles were Grammy Nominated...
Adele's LIVE DVD/CD set was out before it got nominated....

you don't have to have a full cd in stores to be nominated, as long as a single is out before the deadline of Sept 30. The period began oct 1 2011 to sept 30, 2012. So thats how anita and others can be nominated via a.single. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. Simple. It's not required. She's nominated for “Best Traditional R&B Performance" not Best R&B Album, Album of the Year or any of those sorts.
You want an example? Dr. Dre was nominated for Best Rap Song, "I Need A Doctor" in 2011. The song is supposed to be on the Detox album.
It's 2013.............. and Detox has not be released yet.
