Vesta Williams' Posthumous Album

January 17, 2013

Music producers Edwin Nicholas, Devon V. Collins and Kahlil Pedizisai have partnered to extend the legacy of singer Vesta Williams.

It has been over a year since Williams passed away at age 53. She was known for hits like "Congratulations," Sweet Sweet Love," and "Special. Williams was recording new material at the time of her death.

The group of producers worked to finish Vesta's forthcoming album Seven. "Producing the Vesta album was an amazing experience," said Nicholas. "To be around her and to learn from her was one of the highlights of my career."

“Vesta’s voice is still magical. She was a joy yesterday, today and tomorrow,” adds Collins, while Kahlil Pedizisai insists, “Vesta has the voice of an angel and this album will be memorialized as one of her best works."

The new single "Better Days" is available on iTunes. Seven will be out on March 12th.

Hopefully, the label will keep their word this time. This disc has been delayed for a year! Again, this is definately an artist that I need closure on. I'm still in mourning over her.

Indeed, she looked stunning, and looking forward to her second act.

If only she had been given more time.

"Dedicated", the first single from the album, was on Stimuli Music Records which might be now defunct. The album will be distributed on a different label.

Gosh, she looked sooo different from when she first started out. I know she lost a lot of weight, but I didn't think she looked bad as a heavy gal. She carried it well and her voice seemed stronger. I'll never forget first hearing some of the tracks from "Vesta" and "4 U" and thinking how much they sounded a bit like Prince-inspired songs. "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is one of my all-time sentimental favs. I'm looking forward to "Seven."

"What is This?"

"Hold On"

I know right. When she was heavy, she still seemed confident in herself. Her "Unsung" episode is one of my favorites because when she talked about her size and weight, she laughed and even made fun of herself, but most of all she owned it. I think that spoke volumes about her character.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I felt a little guilty watching her Unsung episode. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit because she was poking so much fun at herself and she was just being her usual silly self. I absolutely adored this woman and I can't wait for the CD to FINALLY drop!

I wonder how often Vesta went to her Primary physician if she had one? Reason I wonder is because blood work will show things going on in the body and doctors LOVE to send their patients to Centers to get all kind of shit checked out...

And maybe the case is she knew she had health issues but never felt they were life threatening....

You can have medical issues and doctors can't detect them unless they are specifically looking for something. We had a case here in Michigan a couple days ago where a college football player in his early 20s dropped dead in the middle of a workout. They said he just had a physical and was checked out by a doctor either the day or a couple of days before and they told him he was healthy as a horse. Bloodwork doesn't detect everything. If you are not showing symptoms, illnesses can remain undetected. And I know Vesta was taking sleeping pills. When you suffer from insomnia, it leaves your body susceptible to all kinds of illness. All of my doctors have told me getting enough quality sleep is the key to good health.

I was wondering about that. Amazon has the release date as March 26 while Best Buy still has it listed as March 12. Another thing, it appears the Best Buy edition will have a bonus track entitled "Rewind".
