In retrospect .... Milli Vanilli

Sure they didn't actually sing the songs... But the production was tight and just about everybody is is auto tune or fake today!

I saw them at Glam Slam, (which was Vertigo's then). They were gettin' down with the fans on the dance floor, dance offs and everything. lol Fun times, but a sad ending to it all. sad

The only song I liked from them was this one....

I didn't like any of the rest of their music and what trips me out is the reason they were chosen to pretend they were the actual singers is because of their look which I liked even less than their music. They looked like two Stone City Band members gone gay.

I love Milli Vanilli. I could give a rats ass if it wasn't themsinging either. Someone sang the damn songs and they were good and catchy. Rob & Fab did great as the "front men". They still had to perform and dance so as far as i'm concerned it's all good.

Pretty sad to think if Rob hadn't died, they probably could have had (and were on the verge) of having a sucessful combo reunion reuniting Rob/Fab, Frank Farian, and the original vocalists with greatest hits and new tracks.

Sadly, some things are not meant to me. neutral

Best we can hope for now is a Hollywood movie with a decent soundtrack. confused

nod

In today's (2013) world, Rob & Fab would definitely kick New Direction's, Chris Brown's, Ke$ha's, AND Rihanna's asses in the lip-syncing while dancing department!

Yes, I said it. mr.green

I never bought into the whole Milli Vanilli insanity. Back then i hated their image, their music and their fans. Now though, i can and do appreciate the music for what it was(good pop/dance music). I also feel for the guys. They were in a tough position(having Money and fame vs not having it).

The sad thing is that most of the ridicule and wrath fell on Rob and Fab when in fact a lot of people had a part in the deception.

How did they get found out as not being the actual singers?

I saw the video of them lip syncing which the track skipping, but surely that would just prove they were lip synching not that they weren't the singers at all?

Yeah, Rob and Fab took all the heat for it, when their producer and the record company (and maybe some other people) were in on it, too. What record company is going to offer a contract or put someone on tour before they know if the people can actually either sing, play an instrument, or perform live?

Oh, come on! Are you that naive? There are so many FAKE people in the music business. Especially teenagers are easy to fool and they buy / bought a lot of records.

I'm NOT that naive! I know there are those who buy music based on peoples' looks. The same thing happened with Black Box and C&C Music Factory (models pretending to be singers) around Milli Vanilli's time. Maybe it's a pop thing with people pretending to sing live (it still happens now), but with rock music (and some other genres) you have to prove you can really sing and/or play live.
