Beyonce` to sing for Inauguration of President Obama

Add Beyonce` Knowles Carter to the history books as she sings the National Anthem for President Obama's Inauguration on Jan. 21st. Also on the bill are James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson.

Beyonce` will also be the Super Bowl's halftime entertainment.

Exposure to the max and I don't mean pads LOL

Come on y'all this ain't a surprise...The First Lady Loves herself some Beyonce. I think Beyonce is like the young-sis she never had....I knew Beyonce's invitation was a LOCK when the First Lady ended her Democratic National Convention Speech with the B-Girl singing her off the stage via track....

We didnt need Sylvia Brown to tell us Beyonce was gonna be on that inaugural stand with the First Family...I say Congrats to Beyonce that's an invitation that comes ONCE in a Lifetime....

Somebody's 2013 is starting off GREAT...Damn....

She doesn't do that when she's performing for the President. wink

She performed the National Anthem at a Superbowl a while back. It was pretty good (even though it was lip synced).

It may not be a surprise, but damn let someone else sing. I just feel that she's overhyped. There's better singers and entertainers out here than her and folks act like SHE'S THE ONLY ONE THAT EXISTS when she isn't. I know it isn't up to me as far as who performs, if it's true that the first lady prefers her, then so be it, but yeesh, she's overdone, overexposed and overhyped. shrug

I'm so with you on that one. Could we at least get a naother singer for once that doesn't just appeal to the younger demographic? Outside of 3 records from the first cds she released I'm not interested in Beyonce's music nor hearing her sing. It would have been nice for someone else to have a chance. Hell, I'd even take Diana Ross's senior citizen ass at this point, with her 50 yards of tulle, beads, and all. bored2

This is all pre-release hype just like everyone else that's done the SB. However, the problem is she literally never left. The girl still has "Dance For You" on the R&B stations for God's sake. Geesh confused confused What was it the Fugees said: "Ready or Not" here she comes......lol

So who do you think the Obamas should have chosen besides Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor?

If I'm not mistaken Kelly Clarkson will become the youngest singer to sing during an Inaugural ceremony...I don't know how she got an invite but I know it blew her Damn mind....I'll bet you the Obama Daughters picked her...

I'll get flack for this but I don't care....I would had chosen Mint Condition. I love to hear real music by real musicians. thumbs up! I still don't understand why these cats are still "under the radar" as far as popularity goes..even 20 years later when they constantly record and tour. After seeing them live 3 times, they have BROUGHT IT each time.

To me, there are so few celebs/entertainers out there now. Especially compared to the 80s. Hell, Prince, Madonna, MJ, etc were HUGE in the 80s, but they were not on EVERY awards show or high profile television show every time it aired.

Hun, you know I love you to bits but this is where I have to stop you BUT I agree with your last statements, very spot on.

The HEAVENS, THE GALAXY, THE CLOUDS, THE AIR, THE ANIMALS,knows I try to avoid this BORING, bleached, overrated, overexposed, overhyped, average looking and tired heffa threads because for some creepy reason this board thinks she is more important than what she really is but with all this being said, I respectfully disagree with this statement.

I can name drop at least 5 entertainers that are more entertaining than this boring brat.

I also agree with Missfee that Mint Condition could have been a better choice and different pick although realistically that probably would have never happened even if B didnt get picked again.

They could have gotten ANYBODY to perform and do that National Anthem, I dont give a fuck what nobody says biggrin

The ONLY reason why they chose Beyonce is because she and Jay Z are buddy buddy with the Obama....(which aint no secret and everybody knows rolleyes I would have been even more surprised if they didnt pick her!! Im surprised they didnt ask Jay Z to rap his opening introduction eek ) Honestly, it really doesnt matter to me because I am not going to watch either way but its not really a good look because she performed at his first inauguration, his first dance with his wife, at the recent galary Obama and Michelle over the summer for worlds help day AND NOW this. It screams of kissing ass and favoritism. LET SOMEONE ELSE SHINE.

I like Obama but Im sorry his a little disrespectful for this and fake. (Say what you want to say but I dont care)

I mean Obama didnt even ask ETTA JAMES before she passed away to sing her own song that she was well recognized for, they asked Beyonce and now their asking her again and again... and again yawn Why not legendary acts like ARETHA FRANKLIN, TINA TURNER, DIANA ROSS, STEVIE WONDER, AL GREEN someone with a more deserving legacy, legendary merit or different for a change. I personally think they could have asked someone more historical defined like any of the artists mentioned above to sing with the first black president to make it more historical but Obama doesnt seem to care about that and instead is fixated on kissing ass and being "politically correct"

Finally on your last statements, you are spot on with your comments. For one thing, Beyonce is NO WHERE on MJ, Madonna and even Prince level EVEN during their peaks as well as hers and currently she has peaked. Nobody really gives a fuck about her but HER neutral

MJ, Madonna etc was not performing at every damn award show, at every event for the president, didnt make an appearance at every damn show, released a 100 singles, did a 100 magazine covers, did a 100 movies, etc Im not say they didnt work the media either because they did to but it wasnt on a outrageously insecure level to the point they could not disappear for a couple years and regroup. They took like 5-6 year BREAKS in between album releases!!! People look at Beyonce and say she is hardworking and I look at her and see that shes DESPERATE/conceited because she thinks she is more than what she is

I feel sorry for every single black girl who looks at her and feels like they have to look like her in order to be called beautiful, as a black female SAD. Beyonce feeds into her "western image" which is why she is never going to hang up her old blonde wig.

NOT ME, I LOVEEEEEE MY brown skin I dont fall for the bullshit, if I wanted to buy some bleached blonde weave, I can go down the street to my local beauty supply store or if I wanted to have my skin lightened even more than it is I could go to the beauty supply as well or pay money for a nose job, I am NOT doing that shit or feeding into white peoples and western society ideal and I feel sorry for you motherfuckers that feed into the false misrepresentations. Somebody just posted a pic of her and Miguel and she looks "average looking" whens she doesnt put the excessive make up on. Ive seen better looking women and black women at work and at my school (and no Im not saying it because I dont like her, Im saying it because its true)

But O well lol ..... yall can jack off to a fake photo and kiss her ass because shes singing the National Anthem for Obama all you want thumbs up!

Man, if I was elected president my inauguration would be a joint concert from Prince and the Boss.

Steve Earle and the Del-Lords would be the opening acts.
