The new year brings new music from Chrisette Michele. The R&B songbird has announced a release date for her fourth album, Better.

The follow-up to 2010’s Let Freedom Reign is set for release on April 30, Chrisette announced via Twitter. It marks her first album on Motown (she was previously signed to Island Def Jam).

“Oh MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! Ok, all ima say is #JourneyToBetterstartsNOW #April30thBetterReleaseDate #Motown #RichHipster #ucomin,” tweeted an excited Chrisette.

Just last month, she dropped her free mixtape Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation featuring collaborations with 2 Chainz and Wale.

As long as it doesn't have any euro dance beats, bring it on.

I'm concerned she's on Motown. I know she wasn't happy at Def Jam, but damn! That's like going from the frying pan into the fire.

I wonder if Ne-Yo influnced her to come to Motown, since he's now the senior, VP of A&R there. She and he have a pretty good working relationship.

I wish her luck. I'll buy the cd when it comes out, but she's goona have to really put in work, because Motown doesn't have much of a budget.

What's been going on at Motown?

Musicman's comment is about the label's shoddy reputation with regard to promoting and marketing new releases. Def Jam is Motown's parent company. Nuff said.

Exactly! Motown is really only around in name. To me, the label should have been put to rest years ago. It's been bad there since the 80s. Barry hit the jackpot when MCA bought it in 1988.

Over the years, there have been a few acts that have kept it afloat, but Motown has been bought and sold so many times, it's not even funny. And, they really don't get much of a budget for promotion etc... So, if an artist goes to the MO, just know the project is pretty much dead on arrival.

Listen to "A Couple of Forevers", the first single from the new album. Can you guess which exquisite classic it samples?

If her upcoming single, "A Couple Of Forevers" is any sign of what this album is like, I'm so pouncing on it. That song is great !!!!

Wow, sampling The Ojay's huh? It's okay. Something more original, like her tracks on her mixtape, would had made me enjoy it more. shrug Hopefully the whole album isn't filled with a bunch of sampling of classic soul songs.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
