The artists that were banned in the Soviet Union or other countries.

I'll start with the Soviet Union ...

The list of prohibited in the USSR music groups and artists
An annotated list of foreign music groups and artists, whose works are ideologically and morally harmful products
on January 10, 1985
For official use

more than 100 well-known artists in the list, here are the most interesting:

"AC/DC" - neo-fascism, violence
"Iron Maiden" - violence, religious obscurantism
"Judas Priest" - anti-communism, racism
"Metallica" - anti-communism, depravity
"Manowar" - anti-communism, satanism
Ozzy Osbourne - satanism
Prince - apolitical
(A little more on the wording for the Prince: Creativity - a mixture of pornography, apolitical, and even nuclear war propaganda) lol
"U2" - militarism, anti-Sovietism
"B-52" - violence, militarism
"Blondie" - violence
"Van Halen" - anti-Sovietism
"Depeche Mode" - apolitical
Donna Summer - eroticism
"Culture Club" - homosexuality, anti-culture
Michael Jackson - apolitical, occultism
"Madness" - violence
'Motorhead" - moral turpitude,
"Nazareth" - violence, sadism, religious obscurantism,
"Pink Floyd" - a distortion of Soviet foreign policy.
Rod Stewart - eroticism,
"Scorpions" - violence
Tina Turner - sex lol

..............

Do you know anything about the "artists banned" in other countries? wink

you have not seen the detailed lol

"Metallica". Speaking to journalists, the group leader expressed his "creed" as follows: "... Drink and girls, drugs and money, the main thing - money - that's what we care about." The most famous song - "Slow Death" was included in the last anti-communist album "Music for the people."

Ozzy Osbourne. A classic example of mental health problems and the collapse of the personality at the person for a long time to rotate in show business. lol

Michael Jackson. Is the personification of the American abnormal lifestyle.

etc.

And how many Russian bands are promoted in the States in 2012??? wink

be popular in the West for USSR artists was dangerous.

Even the artists of the famous Russian ballet went on international tour, accompanied by the KGB

Soviet artists were popular in the countries of the socialist camp, it's a lot of countries, actually.
+ They played music on the languages of the Soviet peoples (not English), so their potential audience is not as wide.

Michael Jackson - occult: Gotta be the Thriller video. Can't think of any other song he did at that point that comes close.
