Centric had a 90s soul train marathon Saturday

They showed episodes with Joe Public, D'Angelo, and Patra

Wow, I didn't know public enemy appeared on soul train. That sounds a bit weird.

Oops, thanks. Guess my eyes are playing tricks on me.

I searches YT in the meantime, and PE actually did perform in 1987, Rebel Without a Pause. Don Cornelius was ridiculous in his reaction: "That was frightening." He had no idea what to ask them during the little interview portion.

I like the 80s episodes the best, except for the brief period when Soul Train tried to go Pop; Soul Train dancers trying to boogie to Huey Lewis and The News. Don't get me wrong I love Huey, but still... lol

lol I don't remember that. We finally have Bounce TV here in Detroit so I got a chance to see a 1981 episode with Patti Austin and George Benson I never saw before yesterday. So I guess Bounce and Centric are airing different episodes? I wonder if one network has the rights to air certain shows that the other network does not?

I saw Don attempting to interview R. Kelly. Don just seemed so uneasy, like he wasn't sure what to say. After seeing that interivew and how disconnected he seemed, I see why he booked shortly thereafter. He was just so uncomfortable and disappointed with the route R&B was taking. It was too hard for him to pretend so I very much understand his exit from the show.

Soul Train tried to go Pop

They did that one and Opportunities. Those songs were played on the local R&B stations too, but I've never heard Jump played on an R&B station. Video Soul on BET used to show a lot of pop videos too. I don't recall if ABC appeared on Soul Train, but Don Henley did. I saw it when it first ran, but haven't seen it since. I just remember Don doing All She Wants To Do Is Dance, but don't remember the 2nd song. I think they show Don Henley on the intro to the 1990's or 2000's episodes, where they show small clips of acts from previous decades.

Don acted so clueless when he asked questions to the singers.

I just watched TLC perform Aint to Proud to Beg..and you can

see and hear that the whole song is Left Eye rapping.

One of the questions Don C. ask, "Now which one

of you handle the rap?" I liked Left Eye's expression when

he asked it, then he had to ask the question again, Left Eye

tapped the microphone on her chest and said "I do" and

Don C says ..'of course'...I know they all were thinking

---DUH!!!

Don always had me laughing with his questions aftter each

performance clueless

Good question. Maybe that is the case, but then again the same episodes of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air seem to air on whole bunch of cable stations around the same time, lol

ABC did appear on Soul Train in 1987. The same episode as Eric B. & Rakim. I saw it on Bounce TV. cool

I'm currently enjoying the episodes on Bounce. They are airing episodes from

the Golden Age 1979-1983. Yesterday they had Cameo and Patrice Rushen

on.

Even though PSB hated doing interviews.

I can tell they enjoyed this!

They where very inspired by R&B & Hip-Hop going on in the 70's & 80's.

Hell even Chris talked! in the 80's that is rare lol
