Iggy Pop & The Stooges - Fun House

Yes, i'm really late but I just heard about this album and would like to check it out. I've read it's meant to be a masterpiece. Is thsi true? Great classic album?? The only Iggy Pop album I know and love is the Idiot.

Iggy's "masterpiece" in my opinion is 1973's Raw Power. But I do like Fun House a lot too--more than the Stooges 1969 debut. Those are all protopunk records--very different from The Idiot.

If you like The Idiot you will probably like Lust for Life. Funhouse is great but very different than The Idiot.

I remember TV Eye from the movie "Velvet Goldmine". I didn't even realize it was a real song.

It's one of my most favorite albums ever. I'm playing with a Stooges cover band tonight at Alex's in Long Beach if y'all want to come on down!

It is that rare rock album that has real funk in its grooves. They are obviously fixated on James Brown beats, repetition with a lot of power, and crazy-ass free jazz soloing over top of it. Very different from any of their other albums... but each one is real different from the others so, yeah.

It's not much like The Idiot... I agree with the person who said to check out Lust For Life if you like that one, and I'd add New Values too. But do check out Funhouse. Do it do it do it.

Funny story about TV Eye - I always assumed when he's singing "she got a TV eye on me" that she's staring at him like TV because she's so fascinated. One of them later corrected this and said TV eye stands for "twat vibe eye". It was something their grilfrinds came up when they saw some skank trying to get with their man... "watch out for that one, she's giving him the TV eye."
