Daria Musk

Has anyone heard of this artist?

I was invited to go see her tonight in NYC.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on her.

All I know is that she has gotten the majority of her following from Google+.

I watched a couple of her videos on YouTube, but I'm not sure what I think...

Thanks!

Her music is not my cup of tea, but i'll give her credit for how she got herself out there.

Thanks, tA... smile

It really wasn't my cup of tea either, but the friend who invited me is so excited because she follows her on G+.

I'm hoping that the atmosphere at Joe's Pub will pull me in... neutral

Hi!

I had a crazy weekend, so I'm finally getting to weigh in...

Daria Musk has a really strong voice. Her YouTube videos don't do her justice. nod

Her material, though, is very weak. Most of the songs that she has written are about wanting to become famous, or about the Google community.

Daria talked about the progression of her career with Google's help. Her concert was a Google-sponsored event that was streamed live from Joe's Pub in NYC. (There was another artist's Google-sponsored concert somewhere in the East Village as well).

People from all over the world were watching, and they had a big screen up, so that we could see them. Some of them got a chance to introduce themselves to the audience... After the show, they were chatting about the show and we could hear them. It was funny because one of the guys said, "Hey, I think they can hear us!" and we all started clapping.

There was an afterparty, and she came and met everyone that had been supporting her online. I spoke with her and told her that it was the first time that I had heard her, but that I enjoyed the experience. She had shared that she had been out to the Grammys, so I asked what she had done there. She said she participated in something they called, "Google Future Now" that also featured other artists who started on Google. She said that she is in talks about playing at something Grammy-related next year.

Her setlist:

  • You Move Me (intro)
  • Almost Famous
  • The Ripple Effect
  • Ghosts
  • Tell Me
  • 1 Me
  • (short acoustic)
  • Ordinary Town
  • Foreign Cities
  • Chalk on the Sidewalk
  • LED Heart
  • You Move Me
  • I Owe it All to You
  • Encore: MJ's "I Want You Back"

Overall, I enjoyed the experience. thumbs up!

Thanks for the report.

I wasn't touched by the few things i'd heard either.

Maybe the material will gain some muscle over time.

Glad to hear you had a good time though.
